Honestly, I was very happy when the first episode of Nier was released, but I was very upset that it was subjected to such a production and postponement… I don't think the series was postponed due to covid, bad criticism of CGIs, and as you said, such a situation occurred because they tried to release it early, such an end to such a series was not good…

So humanity was wiped out 10,000 years ago (around the year 2000) and the aliens then invaded 5,000 years ago.
Humanity did SURVIVE however but how is a spoiler, or I should say they had a project that would allow humans TO survive but unfortunately that failed.
