WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN WITH HOW PHENOMENAL THIS EPISODE AND HOW MUCH I LOVED IT??? I have never smiled so much watching an episode of Vinland Saga. I thought we’d already gone far enough with Canute was laughing but it kept soaring. Canute made me so proud!! Thorfinn continued to prove that he’s the best. Thorfinn and Einar solidified their brotherhood, said goodbye to Arnheid and the farm and are heading to Iceland just before Vinland!! I’m so happy they’re staying together!! I can’t stress how much I love Vinland Saga!

Vinland Saga is simply the greatest written anime no denying that
I love the message of this story, and I adore the way it was told.
That said, I would like to highlight the parallel between Thorfinn and Askeladd, bought to our attention by Canute's words at the start of the episode and later, when he commented about Thorfinn's new ability of eloquence.
The episode opens in a similar way as episode 24 of the first season: The protagonist was put in corner by the king of Denmark, and he has to decide what to do to counteract the actions of the monarch.
Canute was expecting, maybe hoping that Thorfinn would act as Askeladd did, putting a stop to his own transformation in a power-thirsty Viking King by killing him and then die because of that. But Thorfinn has become a man different from Askeladd. He did not kill the father figure he hated so much (Askeladd himself) and so he was able to escape from the hellish world of war and violence in which Askeladd decided to live into. Instead, Thorfinn had the chance to see and experience the good side of humankind. If Askeladd had his best friend and confidant in Bjorn, a man who liked to kill people and pillage villages, but was a loyal friend to him, Thorfinn found his buddy in Einar, a man who has lost everything, but kept being positive about the future. Thorfinn and Einar helped each others to heal their reciprocal wounds, making them brothers; Askeladd, on the other hand, admitted his friendship for Bjorn (more by his actions than his words) only when his friend was dying. Askeladd was a lone wolf, Thorfinn is alone no more.
Thus, Thorfinn has become the man Askeladd was not able to be, the true heir of Artorius. As such, now Thorfinn is going to build a true Avalon, a peaceful world on the other side of the Ocean.
As a side note, with this episode the evolution of Olmar is now complete: At the start of this season Olmar was desperate in seeking a way to become a real man. Fox and Badger made him believing the right way to do so was to kill a man; he later discovered that killing a man has awful consequences and does not make anyone a better person. Now Olmar has found in Thorfinn the model for becoming a real man. And so, he became the new leader of the farm.
Nah, Roald wouldn't go with Thorfinn. Beyond the debt he feels he owes to Ketil and his affection for Sverkel, I think he's also now loyal and devoted to Olmar.
adorable canute is back🥺
This episode is a perfect example of why I love this season. Just great dialogue and even better writing from start to finish. No flashy fights to speak of, yet it tops every other anime I've seen this year. It's not often you watch/read a story this well written and I'm loving every second of it.
I Rarely comment on yt videos but this is easily the best channel that has been Reacting to vinland saga. May god continue to bless you
Best manga arc of all time adapted beautifully in the anime.Thankyou Mappa and staff!!
(((merchant))) Thorfinn is coming
I was waiting for Thorfinns busted up face the whole time 😭😭
Pater's last monologue "Someplace that's not here"
btw do you remember what is the title of the very first episode?
When they called each other "brother" i started kicking my feet like a little girl 😂
An episode dedicated to all haters, hating Vinland cause it's not like a shonen.
Having watched a dozen reaction chanels throughout this vinland season, you are hands down my favourite. I can hardly think of anyone who was as investied in this show as you were. It always feels good when you see people care about the show so much. Thank you for your work❤
Whos gonna stop me from reading the manga after this season ends??? 😭😭😭
Yeahhh Vinland saga easily entered my top 5 after this season. Gonna have to wait a couple years for s3 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
You're adorable. AndI was all giddy this whole episode too. Canute being cured from the curse of his father by being marveled by the beauty that is Thorfinn. My heart cries with these characters
So, this is one of those rare moments where history itself is a spoiler.
Cnut, the historical king himself, was one that emphasized justice and peace across his kingdom. So much so that he and King Alfred are the ONLY 2 English Kings honored with the title "The GREAT."
I figured Yukimura respected history enough to eventually get to that point with Canute, but i didnt know HOW he would go about it.
Btw, for anyone curious, the manga narrated that Thorgel left the farm and was never heard from again.
You look sexy for a Muslim girl. I’d like to allah akbar on you all night long.
The usage of the word "Carve…" summoned up S2 perfectly. In episode 1 it felt dark, Viking mentality getting passed on and so on, in this episode the usage of that phrase flipped to reflect all the work that Thorfinn put into himself and how he impacted others…
Especially Canute & Olmar, Thorfinn saying "it took me 15 years to do what you did". That was POWERFUL!!
Peaklandsaga
This has to be the cutest reactor.
My emotions were crazy watching this this first time too.
This shows a simple conversation can stop a war and yes I did cry lol
The manga gave extra context about the farm at the end.
The farm is reduced to half it's former size.
Ketil retired and is sad about Arnheid (he said Arnheid while looking hollow/sad in his face)
Olmar took over the farm and compensated the families taking part in the battle.
Thorgil went away, never seen again.
It's not even the final episode of the season but it's a perfect ending to this arc. Vinland Saga is officially a masterpiece. Great job, Mappa. We will be looking forward to the third season. 🎉🔥👏
Hmm…
Peak.
my eyes fucking exploded with tears when Thorfinn and Einar called each other "Brother."
like, fuck this series is pure beauty
also, I know this is not canon, but merely my delusions, but that confrontation between Thorfinn and Canute was so beautiful, and kinda …romantic?! Like, the passion between these two is magical.
idk if you know ab this or no but in one of the last few eps snake mentions that he's from constantinople (called miklagard in norse) which is why he also has that saber! just a fun fact for all snake simps like us lol
