The Santa lie definitely effected me as a kid I remember the betrayal when I finally knew he wasn’t real, after years of my mother telling me he was real.. and that everyone else was lying. I had a lot of other trauma in my childhood so that might have made it feel worse.
But I also remember the magical part of putting out snacks for Santa and his reindeers that part was amazing. So I think when I have children I will only do the Santa thing until maybe 5 years old. I won’t push the lie either if my child comes to me and says __ told me santa isnt real or if they catch me pretending to put Santa’s presents under the tree, then I’ll just tell them the truth earlier. I won’t repeat the mistake my mother made.
If you're looking for realism , i would definitely recommend banana fish , it's too real
