This episode definitely hit me right in the heart, Rei’s declaration that they CAN change made me so happy, to him his found family is “something worth protecting” even if it means he’s gotta turn against the organization to do so. The boy’s have really grown so much since the first episode. 🥹

What we learned in this episode is that Kazuki is a terrible shot. No wonder he only does the planning and none if the actual killing.
Also our informant is a terrible judge of character, causing both Kazuki and Rei unnecessary pain and getting Miri's mother killer, by underestimating both Kazuki and Rei's love for Miri as well as underestimating the ruthlessness of Rei's father.
Although honestly, he was terribly naïve for believing they would be satisfied with Miri leaving leaving after having 4 months of investigation reports showing just how attached Rei is to his newfound family.

Also thank God, Rei's lighter broke at just the right time. There's no time to get back into bad habits. It makes me sad just thinking about how he DEFINITELY would have turned into a chain smoker again if he really would have joined his father.

i don't think it was a trigger problem… it's the other guy is much more skilled then kazuki

Came here to your channel to watch your reaction video right after finishing watching the episode myself. Here are a few thoughts:

(1) 9:36 Just like with you two, when I saw Miri's mother's hands started trembling as she went on about how much she love her papas, I was really worried that she might drop her nice mother act, and end up smacking the poor little girl! Thankfully, that did not happen…

(2) I was going to say that if Rei's father was smart, he should have let Ryo Ogino (The 'Last Word' hitman) finish killing both Miri and her mother first BEFORE telling Rei about how he plans to get rid of them, or at least have his guards stop him from leaving the room to warn Kazuki… But then I realized, he might actually WANTED Rei to try, and most likely fail, to save them. After all, Kazuki arrived with literally seconds to spare before he got to Miri as well. Having Rei arrived at the apartment to find all three of them dead might very well be part of the 'training' Rei's father wanted to break his son's spirit.

(3) 19:30 Like I have written on the comment section of CrunchyRoll…. Dude, is Kazuki seriously considering taking Miri back to daycare… You know, the SAME daycare that Rei's father is now aware of, as seen in him and Ogino having the photo of them attending Miri's field day? They really should consider EVERY single location and known associate that they had (Including Kyu-chan) as having been compromised, and will likely be watched by Ogino and Rei's father just waiting for them to resurface. Really, the only path I can see for Kazuki and Rei going forward would either be to go full witness protection, getting themselves and Miri new identities, and burning all previous ties; Or to go on the offensive, and take Rei's father out. There is NO going back to 'happy family life as usual' after Rei's father having made it clear that as long as he is alive, he will never leave anyone that Rei cares about alone.

What I got from this episode that for sure Kazuki only handles info and planning, he doesn't have it in him to pull a trigger at all, he carries one for appearance it for sure but never had we saw him use it, only in the flashback and it really seems to me now that he had only to round the target to the point where there was someone that will take care him and it even looks like he wouldn't know who would make the kill or he would have reacted so much differently when he heard Ryu's name last time or saw him today.
So even when he want's to defend his daughter and has every intension to shoot, he wont be at the same bar with a psychotic hitman both in term of speed, aim and physicals, he is way to emotional person for that too.

You guys are my favorite reactors for this series. You guys were the only ones that said precisely what I thought about Misaki in both of these episodes. My godchild comes from a very similar situation as Miri, so I feel and continue not to feel sympathy for her choices and or circumstance. The only one I feel bad for in regards to Misaki’s death is Miri because that’s who matters.

She was selfish, and at least she acknowledged that, but it’s also because of her selfishness that Miri was put in danger in the first place.

If Misaki had never sent Miri to find her human trafficking sperm donor, this never would’ve happened, so it’s not even Rei and Kazuki’s fault that she ended up dying. Kazuki and Rei have just been reacting to Misaki’s actions.

I also felt like she was going to snap when Miri talked about her papas. Especially after the “they’re not your real papa’s” comment.

Also, regarding Kazuki’s lack of shooting… THANK YOU! That was not the time to have a PTSD flashback to your wife’s demise, Kazuki! Your currently living kid is in danger! SHOOT!!!

I always had a little bit of sympathy for the mother, more than others at least lol. There's hints she always deep down had a soft spot for Miri (like Miri talking about how she's sing her songs to make her smile, and Miri generally not having any sort of hesitancy around her mother or speaking to her) Now does this mean she was a good parent? No, of course not. It's obvious she was not in a great state to take care of such a young child, and the stress of caring for such a young kid on her own along with her already rough life clearly was a breaking point for her. So while she messed up and wasn't a good parent, I never actually believed she HATED Miri, she just wasn't in a good state mentally. It's not unheard of to hear mothers who genuinely love their children dealing with moments of regret in becoming a parent, and hers was like an extreme example of that. And I feel when she was faced with the end of her life, she thought about how she wanted to spend it, and chose it as an opportunity to finally get herself out of a rut and just focus on her daughter. I think when she heard Miri speaking about Rei and Kazuki, she initially felt jealousy, but then realized just how much she lacked in providing for Miri, hence her apology/promise. That'd also explain her lack of hesitancy in telling Kazuki to take care for Miri (even though it's obvious he's still in the business lmao) because she knew they were the ones who give Miri a life she never gave her, and now couldn't give her facing death.

TL;DR: I think Miri's mom is a lot less of a villain than people make her out to be. A flawed person, and one who clearly wasn't in a good spot to be a mother, but she's far from malicious, and does seem to genuinely hold love for her daughter, even if she could never properly convey it. At least that's my take lmao

ay, kazuki may be a hitman but the show has never claimed he was a good one as we;ve seen each of his missions failing over and over again 🤣🤣🤣 no wonder he needs rei to actually aim and shoot the people that mf has no hesitation or control😂brains & brawn

Iffat Bushra Suhi March 25, 2023 - 2:08 pm

9:41 – Something's really wrong with you guys. You're not done watching the entire episode and you started talking sh*t about Miri's mom. I'm not a fan of Miri's mom but I didn't judge her right away after she came back as a changed woman. 😑

QuarterVonLoeweQueen March 26, 2023 - 12:57 am

they were very lucky the other guy sucks at being a hitman and stalls and waits to hear his target's last words, because if he'd just pulled the trigger it'd would've been game over for miri and her mom. Guess the writers had to use plot armour for this episode. And also, about Miri's mom, I don't buy her change of personality for one second. I really thought she was going to snap at Miri when she started talking about how great her papas were, and the only way in which such a sudden change in behaviour can be expected to be genuine, it's because the writers wanted it that way. I've never seen that happen HONESTLY in a real person, but she was killed anyway so no point to pay her any more thoughts

TraNatKiKoMi March 26, 2023 - 3:36 am

A reason Kazuki would not have gone in guns blazing, aside from not being a perfect shot, is that his gun doesn't have a silencer. Imagine if he had gone in, shooting and shooting, Miri wakes up and goes to see what happens. She sees her mum bleeding out, she sees Kazuki get shot and she is right in the line of fire herself. Not to mention neighbours being alerted by the sounds as well.

Kazuki is the brains behind him and Rei, he knows that just going in and shooting up a place is not beneficial. Even if it would be necessary.
