About the king issue… Essentially Canute is King of ENGLAND but still Prince of DENMARK. That's how I understand it.
The first 4 episodes take's place with the span of several months. Episode 5 takes place between 1014 to 1018. It's confusing because you're following Canute's perspective. The time skips and flashbacks aren't as visually noticeable.

Sweyn, Canutes and Haralds father was King of Denmark by birth and England by conquest.
After his death Harald was crowned King of Denmark but he decided to leave the issue of England to Canute, who was already therehaving taken part in the conquest with the explicit understanding between the two brothers that Harald is cool with Canute becoming King of England on his own (as it stays in the family anyway). When Olmar is talking about becoming a warrior in Prince Canutes army (to subjugate England) it is because at that moment in time Canute wasn't crowned officially as King of England and also couldn't be crowned as right after King Sweyns death Ethelred II came to lay claim on his old title.
At the end of this episode Canute gets crowned King of England, but as part of the Danish Royal Family is also a Prince of Denmark still.
Harald is Canute's older brother and king of Denmark, Ketil's farm is in Denmark.
They didnt actually die of ilness, they were poisoned 🤦♂️
This has to be my favorite episode so far. Canute's character development is so damn good. He has become a very shrewd, calculating, and ruthless king. Canute has definitely become one of my favorite characters in the series thus far.

Sweyn (Canute's father) was firstly king of Denmark and later conquered England overthrowing the old house of Wessex (English royal family aka Eathelred's family). Sweyn died in 1014 and his kingdom was split, Harald becoming king og Denmark and Canute being left with the army in England so he can reconquer England (there were widespread rebelions as soon as Sweyn died and Eathelred returned, thus restoring English rule). There was a war, Eathelred died suspiciously, his son Eadmund Ironside succeeded him and fought against Canute until he was betrayed by Eadric Streona (guy who offered Canute all that silver). Canute and Eadmund agreed to split England, but Eadmund died a few months later and all of England was Canute's

Simplified Timeline
• February 1014 : Askeladd(Roman-Celt) kills King Svhen(Danish Royal) (S1E24)
• 1014 : Ethelred II(Anglo-Saxon Royal) comes back from exile to retake England (S2E5)
• June 1015 : Einar(Danish Anglo) arrives on Ketil’s(Dane) farm and meets Thorfinn(Icelandic Dane) (S2E1+2)
• Summer 1015 : Canute(Danish Royal) makes a deal with Earl Eadric(Anglo-Saxon Nobility) of Mercia to get rid of Ethelred (S2E5)
• Fall 1015: Episode 6 will take place here
• April 1016 : Ethelred II dies of "illness" (S2E5)
• November 1016 : Ethered's son and successor, Edmund Ironside(Anglo-Saxon Royal), dies of "illness" (S2E5)
• 1018 : Canute is officially crowned King of England (

About Eadric and his son – Thorkell and Asgeir talked about it a little bit in the first season. When Sweyn was taking over England, Ethelred II fled to Normandy which was basically a full surrender. When Sweyn died and things were less certain, Ethelred II came back from France to try and retake the throne. The reason they call Ethelred II the king of England is just because they don't believe Canute has any right to claim the throne.
About the timeline – Canute's meeting with Eadric happened slightly before Einar was sold to Ketil. This episode then goes on to cover three years of Canute's life up until he is crowned king of England in 1018. When we get back to Thorfinn and Einar in the next episode it will be 1015 again, Ethelred II and his son Edmund are still alive, and Canute isn't the official king of England yet.
About Olmar and the way he talks about Canute and Harald – When Sweyn and Canute went to England to manage the war, Harald got left back at home in Denmark to manage the kingdom. When Sweyn died Harald became the official King of Denmark because he's the older brother and that's how it's supposed to work. Technically he should be the king of the conquered land in England too, but he let his brother Canute have it, possibly as an agreement so Canute wouldn't come after the throne in Denmark as well. That makes Canute the King of England (assuming he can hold onto it) and a Prince of Denmark at the same time because he's still in line for that throne too if something happens to Harald, since Harald doesn't have any children.
Ketil's farm is in Jutland, which is in Denmark. That means that, from Olmar's perspective as a Dane, Harald is king and Canute is crown prince where he is standing. Olmar wants to enlist in the army that we see Canute leading in this episode.
The man talking with Thorkell & cleaning his sword is Asgeir btw. He's Thorkell's second in command, he's Anglo-Saxon & anti-Christian(hates Christians).
