Nope. It started good. For a hidden identity (dude pretended to be a waste when he was really a genius), it's not bad. He plays it well and it makes sense.
But, then he went and played white knight. For no reason. He didn't like her, there was no benefit to him. The benefits she promised was something he could've easily accomplished himself.
FL's company is experiencing cash flow issues, this means they don't have enough free cash or accrued revenue to cover debts and upcoming debts. ML could've easily purchased their debt, making him a creditor and restructured the deal for equity. And, that's just one, easy, bloodless way to get it done.
There was zero incentive or need for him to help some rando-woman who provided ZERO value. He didn't even use her to clean up his image – like making him look more respectable to the social circle. In fact, he already had a bad reputation and marrying her made it worse because she was from a Tier-Two family compared to his elite family.
So…what was the point of the SIMP arc? For her to be the company manager? So, he expects us to believe, she's going to manage a billion dollar conglomerate and 3 smaller, but still multi-million companies?
