36:25 this dialogue is evidence that 4th HGW in Strange Fake is a different timeline from Fate Zero.
In Fate Zero Saber is criticized as walking the path of a martyr, not leading as a king. Here they criticize her for sacrificing her humanity to play god, which will lead her to culling the people. This is a reference to the FGO Camelot chapter, where Artoria in another timeline ascends to godhood and basically does genocide to “save humanity”.
We also know this is different from Fate Zero since Saber names Gilgamesh here. In Zero she never learns his identity.
It's a shame that the anime cut out a bunch of Van-Fem's scenes and mentions, since most viewers don't really understand how big of a deal he is. But yeah, he's one of the oldest and most powerful Dead Apostles around, and while we don't know his exact age, he's at the very least 2300 years old. He mainly resides in Monaco in the modern day, aboard his cruise ship that is filled with multiple casinos.
Flat met him for the first time when he was a kid, and snuck aboard the ship. Van-Fem is actually the one who recommended him to enlist in the Clock Tower, and thus massively influenced the direction of Flat's life. He was also one of the people who killed Francesca during her many lives, and ranks among the most memorable deaths.
Van-Fem is also the one who turned Jester into a Dead Apostle, so him rejecting Jester is far more devastating than the anime let on. Jester was quite literally disowned by the Master Vampire that created him. Now, Jester was powerful enough that Van-Fem's disowning didn't just kill him instantly, but it does weaken him quite a bit.
in the fate zero anime kinda removed the conclusion, especially with gilgamesh, compared to light novel during the Excalibur scene on the bridge.
in iskander pov, he really just angry and sad the way that sabers way of life cause thats not how a person should be, it doenst feel like a person at all and due to that saber wasnt able to experience living as a person.
in gilamesh pov, it was shown that Gilgamesh was fascinated on saber's idea of kingship cause he kinda became like that when he was in later form of his life. he reminisced that only enkidu understands him and kinda sees that in saber where shes misunderstood by others and badmouths at iskandar not understanding saber. and also leads to his twisted mind that only he can understand her so youl be my waifu.
Well, it was indeed Pale rider, the horseman of the apocalyspe which was, originally, symbolyzing simultaneously Death and Disease, (originally, the two concept didn't get their own separate horseman), and as Tsubaki's parents said, the anthropomorphic personification of those very concept by the human psyche through the ages… which is why it's a conceptual servant without will of its own…just translating the one of its master like an IA would do…
And well, it's the point of the Fate verse, every myth are true, but in the same time every myth could became truth if enough people are believing them, which is why the servant are not perfect copy of the person they were in their real life, being mixed with all the legends built after their death…
(ok, and there is the fact that reality itself is malleable in the fate verse, before physic was created/discovered the world did work with myth logic…)
All the giant skeletons were just manifestation of its own noble phantasm, which allow it to create a version of the apocalyspe inside its reality marble/underworld, the version of the apocalypse that its master could imagine… since the little Tsubaki is innocent, it couldn't goes too far… (with a different master, Pale rider could have been a game breaker… there is a reasons that Ishtar had fled without taking the risk of confronting him…)
And sorry but Flat is indeed dead… Now, the little problem is there was a reason explaining how Flat was such a ridiculously powerful mage… so the real question is not, how did Flat survive but more, what would get awaken now that Flat is gone?
Technically, it's explicit in the original LN that Francesca had took some liberty with the events of Fate zero to show the version which would be the most painful for Richard, so every difference could be explained…
this is why Strange Fake is liked by pretty much everyone
it retcons the Banquet of Kings as portrayed in Zero
probably the one scene Fate fans hate the most in the entire franchise lol
