It didn't quite go full Evangelion, but it had a bit of that flavour. 😁
The Meryl's Wish version of the Song of the Plants is one of my favorite pieces of music in a while. So beautiful. 🥹💕
7:08 At least we got almost a minute of a glorious fight sequence 🤩
It's a very different retelling of the manga. At this point all I can really say to anyone interested is to check out the manga. If they feel like something is off, or something is missing, the manga most likely will give it to them. This plot here had it's own issues, but it did land coherently and with similar to the original story's vibes. Most of it definitely grew on me after some time. I'm glad you also enjoyed this version!
Regarding the lack of resemblance of the finale's message to our real world problems (no extraterrestrial beings among us lol) – I like to think that Plants symbolize personified Nature, and how we, humans, hurt and abuse it ignorantly. Ofc our real nature is not consciously forgiving humanity's mistakes, but I think it's a good idea to think about our planet like about a living being hivemind who keeps tolerating our mistakes – but it won't be lasting forever. We should really start to wake up and realize we have to really try our best to not ruin this world completely. Or we'll end up on some desert planet frfr 😂
You should definitely watch the og anime but yeah, you're right – it's a totally different kind of a story. Way more down to earth, no plant jesus, angels or demigods lol. The manga is actually the original source material that Stampede / Stargaze took inspiration from (and borrowed plenty of scenes too). If you can, just watch the og anime and read the manga, both of them are worthy of your time!
go watch original Trigun and Trigun: badlands movie.
