semblance of sanity, sos bros, anime reactions, fate strange fake,
yay! 😀
This is the rule. Any official type moon work (including Strange Fake since it got picked up and published as a full series) is canon.
Thats because fate is a multiverse. It’s safe to assume that each fate series happens in its own timeline unless explicitly stated otherwise.
It is really cool to get to see a Gil vs Heracles redo. I love Fate.
Zero is 4th war, UBW is 5th. 3rd hasn't been adapted in any real way outside of some abstracted scenes in Fate/Hollow Ataraxia and Apocrypha.
To clarify some things the anime isn't going to spell out so you don't have to look it up and accidentally get spoiled:
1. The True and False monikers go back to the Fate/Stay Night visual novel and only designates whether or not a Servant was properly summoned as part of the HGW, which can result in idiosyncrasies but are otherwise proper Servants.
Kojiro is named False Assassin in FSN because he was summoned by Caster instead of a proper Master and the Fuyuki Grail is only supposed to summon members of the Hashshashin Order like Hundred Faces and Cursed Arm as Assassins. Because he wasn't truly part of the HGW Zouken is able summon Cursed Arm Hassan as True Assassin in Heaven's Feel even though there already was an Assassin class Servant.
Faldeus & Co deliberately abused this mechanic to get their HGW going, but this directly resulted in a bunch of crazy Servants that would otherwise not be summonable in a proper HGW.
2. Normal Servants don't remember previous summons beyond weak feelings and impressions because every summon is a fresh copy of the Heroic Spirit from the Throne. FSN Saber is an exception because she wasn't actually a Heroic Spirit when she took part in the HGW, she actually was mentally time traveling from just before her death to the future.
So Gil does not remember anything concrete about Fuyuki beyond vague feelings of deja vu.
3. Fate/Zero covers the Fourth Holy Grail War. The Third Holy Grail War tak place 55 years before that in 1939.
Faldeus ancestor was actually first shown in a not-quite-flashback in Fate/Hollow Ataraxia, the sequel visual novel to Fate/Stay Night. He was a puppet master like Faldeus and the master of the 3rd HGW's Assassin.
4. Alcides is Heracles' birth name. Hera, who despised him for being born out of one of Zeus' affairs, caused him to go mad and kill his wife and children. To appease her hatred he took up the name Heracles (meaning "glory of Hera") and performed the Twelve Labours in her name.
Him accidentally killing his own children is why Hippolyta is shocked and disgusted that he would ever purposely target a young girl.
5. Hippolyta was the target of the Seventh Labour, which required him to steal the belt her father Ares had given to her. She actually gave it to him willingly, but Hera disguised herself as an Amazon and spread a rumor amongst them that Heracles had come to kidnap the queen. A huge battle broke out between the Amazons and Heracles during which he killed Hippolyta.
Alcides calls her a traitor for believing the rumor and not siding with him.
Zero was the 4th. This one's presumably the 7th. Since after the 5th war in Fuyuki which is what happened during Stay Night, there was supposedly the 6th war to dismantle and collapse the Grail system that was set upon Fuyuki. Which involved Rin Tohsaka, Waver Velvet(Lord El-Melloi II), and Manaka Sajyou.
My wife is here finally:)
The best part about True Archer's appearance in this show is the viewer's realization that Heracles as the practically unstoppable Berserker from Fate/Stay Night was him at his weakest.
Archer class Kratos
SO happy they now know this is by Baccano's author, he is one of the few and best at being able to write huge casts of charismatic characters with interesting dynamics, which is something I truly believe Zero and the OG lacked
17:50 we already saw richard's "entourage" noble phantasm in action when assassin tried to attack him, she was repelled by loxley (robin hood). When richard said in episode 1 "dissatisfied with the comparaison" he was talking about loxley (since he said assassin was more nible than loxley but then when she tried to approach richard loxeley fired an arrow at her).
Richard using magecraft in the police station was also one of his friends actually useing the spell. So it is quite OP as it's a great toolbox
The anime did Richard's summoning really quickly to fight the Fanatic Assassin, but in the novel it's way more dramatic, it shows a bunch of knights kneeling in formation to welcome their King and then Richard shows up
Heracles would NEVER threaten or even attempt to harm a child. So the fact that his Alcides form WOULD, is a clear indicator that he's not himself
Heracles came back to get his get-back from UBW. It's actually pretty ironic how their roles have reversed, with Heraclers/Aclides being the aggressor, while Gilgamesh protects his master from them.
Interesting stuff
– Gilgamesh protecting a child from Heracle in FsF is peak irony considering Heracle is the one protecting a child (Ilya) from Gilgamesh in F/SN:UBW.
– There are multiple iteration of Hippolyta story, but given FsF version where she was killed by Heracle. it probably a version where Hippolyta was killed in her sleep because Amazonian thought Heracle came to abduct their queen. so Heracle thought she betrayed him. there are also version where they fought but she lost because her attack is rendered useless by the hide of Nemean Lion that Heracles wears.
– You can see Heracle holding Hippolyta’s sash in F/SN : Heavens feel III movie, it happens during Heracle’s flashback when Shirou traces Heracle’s origin.
– Alcides is Heracle’s birth name, derived from his mother’s name (Alcmene). he is technically a great-great uncle to his mother because Alcmene is a great-great granddaughter of Zeus.
– Hippolyta means “horse releaser”, which is why she’s a rider class.
– Saber being Richard I is very predictable to those who study history because he mentioned Loxley (Robin of Loxley aka Robin Hood) who is rumored to have participated in crusade war (although Robin Hood is a folklore figure) therefore, it implies that he has knowledge of crusade war. which is something Richard even mentioned in EP1 to Assassin “Are you an association of the old man in the mountain ?” and another dead giveaway is the mentioning of Pierre Basile, well-known for killing Richard with crossbow.
– Pierre Basile is covered in bandage is a reference to him got flayed alive by the mercenary who ignore Richard’s final order before his death, to pardon Pierre.
Fun fact heracles is one of the very few servants that could be summoned in any class save for maybe caster but wouldnt be surprised if he could, thats how goated he is
What subtitles are these ?
Hippolyta's about 5'2.5" (about 2 inches taller than OG Saber)
I don't know why people kept saying it's weaker Heracles, since the anime potraited Heracles a little differently than the visual novel. Now that the season ended I could say It is THE strongest Heracles, far more powerful than FSN berseker. It's in some places different then the Strange Fake visual novel.
(Spoiler)
Not only Alcides has a lot of powerful artifacts he can pull out of his ass (nemerian lion armor, hydra poison arrow, Cerberus), he also can take over others nobel phantasms. He also strong as demigod level. Fake bersekers attack didn't even touch him (in anime, despite Alcides calling himself only a 'human' not demigod) . Also his body can heal from any wounds. I know it's with the help with currupt red grail, but still healing without wasting mana from a master a huge advantage. In this anime Alcides/Heracles basically a Gilgamesh lite.
FSF World-line type is a sort of hibrid between Fate and Tsukihime ones in terms of humanity (and Alaya 'the collective unconscious will of mankind' part of the Counter Force) state. Strange Fake is a pseudo sequel to FSN that technically doesn’t exactly prioritize a single route world-line, it positions itself as a new world-line that takes into account all main three of them just like Hollow Ataraxia(which is also a different world-line on its own), even tho technically the events takes place after a modified variation of the Heavens Feel route world-line seen in Fate/school life manga. Well, now you also see why they named it 'Strange Fake' after all, besides other reasons, cus it point in the heart of the matter.
Parallel worlds and their world-lines are exolored system connected to the Akashic Records (the Root, the Origin of magic and all of existence) with "Space-Time Tree" so all world-lines are canon within this 'multiverse' and exist(or existed if its Pruned Worlds and world-lines) in parallel, which is that scene with Wizard Marshal Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg, the user of The Second True Magic Kaleidoscope: the Operation of Parallel Worlds, was hinting about in Wispers of Dawn.
You can (and its safe to) always assume that each work happens in its own world-line unless explicitly stated otherwise (like with Fate and Tsukihime worlds differences), and most events (especially major once) of different works also happans in a similar or close enough in result way in each timeline, again unless stated otherwise or have different setting (like Fate=Alaya and Tsuhkihime=Gaia exploration) or lore.
Richard's first noble phantasm, Rounds of Lionheart, is basically a heavily toned down version of Iskandar's, he has seven full-fledged Servants that he knew in life following him all the time, but they cannot manifest properly unless Richard gets a crapton worth of mana supply, but even then it's for a few seconds, but they're still perfectly capable of supporting Richard behind the scenes
5:08 Prometheus is neither a god or Demi-god. He’s a titan.
Yeah, the 3rd HGW was in the 30s.
Richard's noble phantasm is called Rounds of Lionheart. Basically he sent out party invites to everyone connected to him (not limited to heroic spirits), and should they accept, they would accompany Richard. So Richard actually can't control who or how many people comes along (also there is an upper limit of the number of party members). There are seven people accompanying him this time. We already saw Loxley (assassin), Pierre (archer) and a mage who generated those glowing water spheres in the police station.
I found it hilarious that Tine asked if Gil was ok with not announcing his name… um those two servants kind of just yelled their names and then immediately exited, I don't think Gil had a chance to say anything at all 😂 and remember in fate/stay night, everyone was so so careful about not revealing their true names, and then we have fate/strange fake here 😂
The show/novel: "Gil"s a fake archer now."
The bros: "He's real in our hearts dammit!"
Damn, checking and Caleb's joke prediction was exactly right on her height.
7:59 both of them weren't even an archer 😭🙏
In case you've forgotten the more famous name of Iskandar the King of Conquerors is Alexander the Great
Hippolyta She will be missed 🫡🥹
