  1. leonard was a basket case with the spurs and the fans can boo whenever and whoever they want unless pop wants to reimburse their tickets.

  2. Popovich doesn't want Spurs fans to boo? That team has been so bad the last few years he's lucky there are still fans in the arena.

  3. Fans pay to watch the games, Let them enjoy themsleves …Its not a school house you need to tell em how to behave. Shut up and Pick up some wins coach !

  4. I went to this game as a non-Basketball, non-Spurs fan (this was actually the first time attending a Basketball game in person ever) with family members that were Spurs fans. They filled me in on common things that I'd see and hear:

"DE-FENSE" when the Spurs don't have the ball.

"Go Spurs, go!" when the Spurs have the ball.

Knowing those two bits, I was confused as to why the crowd was randomly booing every once in a while before the family member next to me let me know about #2 being a former Spur.

When the Spurs coach tried to reprimand the crowd into not booing, I turned to that same family member and (as a non-Basketball, non-Spurs fan but someone who knows a lot internet behavior and some on the power of disatisfied large groups) said, "That might have been the single dumbest thing he could have said."

Sure enough, they just booed louder.

The fan reaction actually surprised one of the other Spurs-fan relatives that hadn't been able to attend when I told them about it later. Best they could guess at the time was disatisfaction with being on a losing streak and having a 10 deficit to the enemy team for most of that game.

EDIT NOTE: For those who havent ever been to a Basketball game before like I had, the booing was *much* louder than it sounds on the recording. It wasn't exactly deafening but it was much louder than this.

  5. In Europe, a footballer who betrayed his team would get booed every time he touches the ball. He'd get heckled, stuff thrown at him, insulted. If you stop fans from being fans, you diminish them to spectators. Fans are the reason they get paid, it's The Alfa and Omega of PRO sports. Without fans, they'd be working 9 to 5
