  1. I mean, what can i say… Goated op, Goated ed, Goated animation, Goated music, Goated direction (like bruh they got someone to actually read old norse in the beggining instead of just subtitling it). Introducing Einar like this is brilliant, not only are we able to empathize and care about him from the first episode, but it carves into the audience how terrible the life of a slave is, setting the stage for us to understand how miserable and broken thorfinn's life has been, without actually showing it through his eyes. Anime folks, if this stays with this quality, we are in one for the anime history books. (And no, it will not be to everybody's taste, and that's also completely fine, but to everyone else, this is an arc that will stay with you)

  2. Would now be a good time to say that the first 10ish minutes (well, at least from the beginning to seeing Einar on the boat) was all anime original? Yes? Okay, great. 😂

But seriously, everything about this episode was incredible. Animation, Voice Acting (not sure if the voice speaking in the beginning was the Norse language, but it gave me chills), Music (Opening and ending are bangers), everything was *chef's kiss*.

  3. The opening and ending are spoiler free. It is mostly just full of symbolism but no actual spoilers so yes it is safe to watch it. Would love to see your reaction, they r amazing

  4. For context, Im pretty sure the first half was extended/anime only content. But so far mappa is doing a good job living up to the standards set by wit

  5. Lol amusing title "forgot" how GOAT'd GOATLAND SAGA was. So a few opinions and random things about the episode I have learned. The first scenes with that blacksmith and the tone setting shots of viking culture were spoken in old norse. Also the first half of the episode essentially was anime original content, which even after learning I have to say I loved every bit of this episode. The OP is great and as far as I could tell it wouldn't have any spoilers for this season in it much more symbolic from my perspective as a fellow anime only. I am already intrigued about Einar and his growth as a character. I also look forward to seeing how he and Thorfinn influence one another.

  6. I knew I loved this series when I get emotional for this episode. So I can't imagine some of the bigger moments thts coming(Manga reader)

  7. At least here in the US it’s streaming on Netflix and Crunchyroll, thankfully not locked to Amazon Prime anymore.

  8. PEAKLAND SAGA IS BACK BABYYYYYYYYYYYY! MAPPA IS BACK AT IT AGAIN, THIS IS SERIOUS ANIME OF THE YEAR CONTENDER ALREADY. NON-MANGA READERS YOU'RE IN FOR A TREAT, ONE OF BEST STORY ARCS I'VE EVER READ IN MY WHOLE LIFE!

  9. This was an incredible first episode. The whole flashback with Einar and his Mom and Sister was anime original and it was an amazing addition to the story. The whole production looks amazing so far and I'm so happy that MAPPA let the team from WIT continue this anime. I hope you enjoy this season as much as so many of us did reading it. It's very different from season one as I'm sure you've been told a million times already.

  10. This arc is not gonna full of action but it's gonna put Thorfin up there with Vegeta and Zuko in the department of character development👍

  11. Hey, please try to watch it on crunchyroll if possible!! Netflix had awful translations on season 1 and are known to have bad translations. If you don't believe me just watch this in the dub and see how the subtitles are not even the same as what they are saying lol

  12. Einar was looking at the dude like that when he asked if he wanted to work on his "field" because the sub was supposed to say farm not field and it reminded him of his family farm

  13. there is always gonna be those that say that every opening has spoilers no matter how little, or subjective or lacking in context it is, so its really just a matter of what side are you on… I say watch it. every opening btw, because its part of the experience, and there is the people that say that you shouldn't watch any opening at all because it will supposedly "ruin" your experience. nonsense
