I actually have a theory on what is going to happen after the cliff hanger of season 1 episode 8 of sonic prime.
In rhe shatter void where shadow is, shadow claims that their world doesn't exist anymore then shadow flies towards sonic and smashes him and ends the episode, how did shadow fly towards sonic in the void? Well he has airshoes, and If you look closely at sonic's shoes he still has his hover shoes from the pirate world which he used to run over water and theoretically he can use it to fly around the void and fight shadow with bo problem

Just saw the trailer and shadow and sonic are actually gonna work together……..nah sonic is somehow gonna somehow piss off shadow becouse even tho sonic always causes trouble and shadow tries to reason with him by punching him in the face sonic is not gonna listen to shadow and then they have a big fight becouse sonic is dumb in this show and then they join forces at the end to fix everything
