  8. Great reaction, it's nice to see Lindsay happy/relieved to see Thorfinn experiencing joy. I find it strange you cut the part where Thorfinn tells Einar what he has been thinking about, when they are talking about the future.

I think you guys are a bit quick to dismiss the wisdom of Seizing Keitel's land, As long as they can create enough justification nobody will complain in the lower classes and the act itself weakens the landed aristocracy that would be Canute's main opposition anyway. as long as he doesn't seize things too fast and without some justification its a legitimate tactic. especially if he leverages the new money to improve the Realm and casts himself as on the side of the peasantry.

  13. People need to appreciate the masterpiece that Vinland Saga is, I see many comments on many anime platforms of people saying- (When are we gonna see more fights? Guys will there be more fights later on? Bcs im tired of all the farming I'm here to see action. When is this getting good like how Season 1 was?) Like people need to understand that this is a Seinen Anime not a Shounen Anime.

  14. Lol u guys really seem to hate Thorgil. Not that I think he's a cool guy, but I don't think that the sentiment we have against the beating of children existed back then. At least for Danes. I think it just doesn't register as a terrible thing to do because no one's ever told them so.

    Regardless, one thing that Thorgil honestly strikes me as, if not just a mindless battle dude, is of a loving family older brother. He knows his brother Olmar is a pussy and an idiot. Yet he never seems to look down on him or to treat him like shit. He honestly is just friendly and acts the part of a bro. As for how he sees Ketil, it's at least slightly different because he has him on a pedestal above what he is, but I don't think it changes that he'd be a fierce protector if anyone were to harm Olmar or Ketil and the farm.

    Not that it matters a whole lot. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

    Great reaction though guys! I watched the entire 2 hrs just because you 2 are the ones I see take this show the most seriously. Love seeing you watch this show using your head unlike most other reactors. Not that their reactions are bad but yall are a cut above them

  15. his requisition of more properties is actually a better plan, 1. since he has not much time to wait for a new land to start producing money for him(cuz that would take atleast 10-20 yrs & he needs money rn to prevent the structure from falling)

    2. he can't many many princess cuz that would bring more indirect responsibilties(family, social vise) also this plan is again of a long term

    & he need the army to rule over denmark , england so reducing size of army is out of question. as long as he doesn't seize things too fast and without some justification

    a lay man won't really care abt his kings action as long as it directly impacts him, the ppl who would care are big names , businessmen & other kings

  16. Episode 9 is one of the best anime episodes of anything of have ever watched. Was teary eyed throughout the whole episode. Masterpiece. Peak.
    And Canute, developing in the complete opposite way of Thorfinn. Remember Sweyn mentioning the Crown's curse in S1? Well…
    BTW S2 is done by the same team that did S1. They just moved to MAPPA.

  19. About the whole "requisition" thing. Canute doesn't want money or supplies, he wants THE FARM. He needs the actual land, so that it continues to produce goods directly for him and his army. He said it earlier "We don't have time to cultivate new lands", so they're going to take them.

  20. Knut might also kill Ketil while he is in Jelling and let Olmar inherit the farmland and manipulate him into do all the work in the farm and send all of the supplies to the crown. This is more suited with Knut's way of handling opposition so far. I don't know what will become of Thorgil in this case though. Will he continue to be Knut's personal squad or will he want to inherit the farm instead of Olmar and be a foil to Knut's plans. Upon Ketill's death, the freedom dreams of Thorfinn and Einar will go away as well.

  23. Thorfinn is actually Bug Eyes' birth name, it was rather common back in the day. But we just call him Bug Eyes or Walmart Thorfinn to tell them apart.

  26. 1:16:17 It's actually funny that you bring that up. Although it's never mentioned in the manga or the anime, the author Makoto Yukimura actually confirmed in some old tweets that, at this point in the story, Canute is married to an older widow and has children. Based on real history, that "older widow" would be Emma of Normandy, the widow of King Ethelred II. So he did indeed do exactly what you're suggesting.

You guys are judging Canute's actions as bad waaaay to fast when in reality this is a really smart move, raising taxes as soon as he became king of Denmark is a dumb move that will just upset the people that's why he's focusing on taking advantage of the rich people instead, and since he also knows that he will upset the rich people by taking their land i can BET MY ARM that Canute's plan is for Olmar's dumbass is to use his dumbass behavior to create justification somehow. Marrying with a princess in England is not a solution because that will just solidifie his position and not bring funds because he said that if he used England for funds anymore it will upset eveyone there

  31. The way she sighs at the end of the episode… I do that too at the end of almost every Vinland Saga this season. This show gives me a cathartic release (especially EP9). I love that it really explores the negative side of violence (unlike a lot of anime that just glorifies fighting and killing)
