I had to pause so much, too, bc everyone was being too wholesome and cute 😭 It was emotionally too much!!
I would definitely say the show is decently popular, for example the tumblr community for the anime has at least 201k people following it, I could see maybe a Season 2 happening just probably not immediately because they'd have to write an plan it since there's no manga to go off of.
Something to also note with this episode is it takes place 2 months after the Rei birthday episode, meaning Kyu has probably been stalling on giving Ogino the info (I can't imagine it's that hard to gather info on people you've known for years + their kid you've known for months at this point).

i was screeching through the whole episode 😭 everything was so cute my heart couldn't handle it
After episode 8, I was so stressed that family sports day would be ruined. Cute but, I’m so used to seeing people feel joy in a show and the *dramatic shot* I could barely enjoy it. I’m happy it was cute and Rei setting up their picnic space and sweets onigiri, I’m so proud of him.
