I Skipped All of Fate To Watch Fate/strange Fake
Fate is one of those media franchises that’s been looming over my head ever since I got into anime over 10 years ago. Throughout multiple generations of shonen anime and manga, bursts of popularity in the community, and more global outreach, I still stayed away from Fate because of how complicated it appeared to be. The lore was tremendous and in depth, the different forms of media to consume Fate were endless and connecting it all together felt daunting. For Fate, I always thought I needed to play visual novels(Fate/Stay Night, read light novels(Fate/Strange Fake), watch anime(Fate Heaven’s Feel), play games on multiple consoles(FateGrand Order,), and study ancient history across multiple cultures. Type-Moon content seemed like it was far too large for me to get in, even though the concept of it sounded really interesting and enticing to me, especially since there were so many twists on Grail Wars and the masters/servants who participate in them. I wasn’t going to bother with Fate until I saw the trailer for Fate/Strange Fake. In just a few minutes, all my doubt and reluctance to watch Fate dissipated as I saw one of the best looking anime ever. Fate/Strange Fake is a masterpiece and masterclass in animation and has ended up being one of my favorite looking anime ever. In a season where Frieren and Jujutsu Kaisen were airing, Fate/Strange Fake managed to be my favorite looking anime of them all.

I won't blame you for starting with strange fake but I'll tell you one thing after watching everything there is and I don't just mean fate like all of nasuverse come back to strange fake and you'd be amazed at how good it actually is
This proves that those who prevent newcomers from watching FSF are wrong.
Its funny that one of the master wish was trying to wake up something somewhere in south america and if that thing awaken before the promised time humanity as whole is fucked up and not even dead apostle or any heroic spirit unless you are chaldea maybe humanity has a chance

Heaven's Feel is a part of the Fate Stay Night Visual Novel. Also the fate animes are very flawed with the visual novels for type moon being actually well written. Fate Strange Fake unfortunately is kinda incompetent from a writing perspective. Especially when looking at what type moon has to offer with Tsukihime or Kara No Kyoukai exist. The way to get into Fate is the visual novel since that is actually well written. It is that simple. And if your attention span is so cooked that you cannot read then that says a lot about you as a person. Also Fate is not hard to get into at all. The Walking Dead is unironically harder to get into.
i dont understand why people are starting fate with strange fake. it is absolutely wrong. because it is heavily connected to fate zero which has 24 episodes.
Fate strange is the only fate that I genuinely got interested , finished it and got in to pages of forum spoilers to Know the answer to all those mysteries, and after that I want now to see other fate ( not all but the one connected to this peak fate serie )

It's kind of amazing how much you were able to understand about the Fate universe with Strange Fake! I would say that with this level of understanding you probably are able to watch and enjoy any anime in the series now (Maybe not Fate/Extra Last Encore tho. That one is… It's own thing)
what I love in Fate and the whole Nasuverse is, the more you watch/read/play other series, the more you learn and understand the entirety of the verse
Fate/strange fake is delayed lmao it was supposed to be released last year (2024) but the f/go have some setbacks on their scheduling and decided to make the fate/sf wait a bit and after the last episode fate/sf season one f/go jp release a fate/strange fake collab event
Also if you want to fully enjoy fate/strange fake with minimum investment to know the context i'd suggest to newcomes to just watch this in order
Fate/stay night UBW (just to get the rules and system) > fate/zero > fate/apocrypha > fate/ stange fake

I am curious what someone who never seen Fate at all what would their opinion be playing the original visual novel. I fell in love with Fate when I first play the visual novel in 2008 and I wonder how much of my bias has influenced me. I want to see a neutral persons opinion of the original Fate Stay Night visual novel.
Starting with Fate Strange Fake is just stupid … it heavely depends on other entries. It has some many references to other Nasu works.
And it's not really hard to get into it. The best way to start with Fate is the Stay Night Visual Novel…if you don't want to read a VN than
you can start with Zero, Stay Night or UBW.
It's not that deep. I would start with Stay Night because it's the first route of the VN. (Sadly the adaptation isn't so good) Then watch UBW -> HF and then Zero.
Starting with Zero is okay too but it spoils some things about Fate/Stay Night so I recommend it after HF.
Fate strange Fake production was NOT worked on the entire time between the OVA and the TV series.
In fact, the Crunchyroll got a rougher ver. of the episodes compared to Amazon's copy.
