The Suicide Squad Anime Finally Done Right
Sentenced To Be A Hero definitely wasn’t one of the first titles to come to mind when the Winter 2026 anime season began considering how stacked the season was. Frieren, the highest rated anime on MyAnimeList, was returning for a second season that maintained the high quality production from its debut. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 was airing as well, somehow increasing the hype for the most popular anime in the world. Fire Force was airing its much anticipated finale, which included one of the greatest endings the medium has ever seen. Hell’s Paradise also had an extremely strong showing this season with a much improved second season. Apart from that, there were also really interesting new anime like Journal with Witch and You and I Are Polar Opposites that really kept my attention occupied. I watched the first episode of Sentenced To Be a Hero not thinking much of it and enjoying the incredible production. By the time I came back at the end of the season to watch it all in one go, I was expecting for the incredible animation to somewhat crumble halfway through the season along with the story’s quality. Sentenced To Be A Hero read like a generic dark fantasy anime, but when I finally finished it, I realized it was indeed a very special story. The animation remained superb and jaw dropping while the story actually manage to feel fresh and complex. Sentenced To Be A Hero genuinely blew my mind with how entertaining it was, especially with its cast of hooligan heroes that I couldn’t help but love. Don’t sleep on Sentenced To Be A Hero. It isn’t purely eye candy. It’s actually that good.
