This series was awful. Pretentious evangelion ending. I legit laughed when nai said he didn’t want anyone to cry anymore. Minutes after he tried to literally g word literally everyone. And then says he especially doesn’t want Vash to cry. To which then he tries to have Vash off him. Good lord the finale was hilariously bad. Also the “jewnourlists good” propaganda. The girls did NOTHING all season until their deus ex machina of SURVIVING elendira and turning her around,and then saving the day ultimately in the end. Every change was so subversive and head scratching. Most of the gung hos live and are forgiven. NONE of the redemption arc and death of wolfwood. Legato SAVED by knives so Vash is robbed of that pivotal moment,(even tho they say he fulfilled it but obviously he didn’t)only for knives to then hilariously immediately kill legato for no reason at the start of that next ep. No clue why he saved him then to kill him. Again,the guy who said he wanted no one to cry (especially Vash)pushed everyone away(especially Vash)and burdened himself but also wanted to g word everyone but Vash but also had Vash basically do to him what legato had Vash do in 98 anime. Just baffling of a series all around and so subversive in all it changed. ALSO I remembered at the very end,the cliffhanger at the end of the previous season with the OTHER independent plants was never bought up again
Overall, I feel that Stargaze was a middling effort outside of the bits that recreated manga events. Wolfwood vs Razlo will forever be a favorite anime fight. However, I realize that fitting Trigun Maximum into a 12 episode series was always going to be a ludicrous undertaking. It just can't be done and still give everything the attention it deserves. My position stated, I'm still glad it was enjoyed by people. We can always use more Trigun fans.
