  1. They skip a major part of the light novel but basically Caster is Alexandre Dumas, the famous author of Count of Monte Cristo and the Three Musketeers. One of his Noble phantasm is called Musketeers' Masquerade: O' Musketeers, Challenge the Windmills. It is a support type Noble Phantasm which allow his target (which he choose John as his protagonist) rewriting their lives based on his experience and literary work. This time I presumed he used Edmond Dantes, the count of Monte Cristo as the basis for John because John saw the past when Dumas met Edmond Dantes. Caster might have used the famous revival scene of Edmond Dantes where everyone presumed he is dead to rewrite John fate and restore and strengthen him. If you haven't known of the Edmond Dantes, he is the main protagonist of the Count of Monte Cristo, he was falsely accused and to escape from prison, he faked his death and upon gaining strength he sought only revenge by becoming the Count of Monte Cristo. They really missed a chance to animate one of the strongest Avenger class servant. (Yes, Edmond Dantes is a servant and an Avenger class)

  2. Ngl this episode was the biggest case of "Fate Strange/Pacing" they skipped the assassin/Sigma vs Jester fight and each episode just adds more and more skipped plot/dialogue content

Its peak anime but if we talk about adaptation… 🤐

  3. Incase u didnt know Ishtar(The Useless Goddess) did appear in fate Grand order where she used Rin as her vessel.not Only that even without rin she Still looks like her

  4. Fun fact: it was actually not his fault this time, ishtar being summoned in HGW is not normal under any circumstance. So gil being surprised is valid, his only mistake was throwing that key.

  5. This b1tch Ishtar is related to original Enkidu's death, which was the event that made gilgamesh turn into this guy that we know- i mean knew*

  6. That was still alcides’ arrow that shot gilgamesh at first, that paralyzed him basically, ishtar only closed the gates and brought berserker, whose presence also caused him to get shot

  7. 14:10 funny he says that- cause even in the novels here it says Tina put too much faith in Gilgamesh doing everything when she could've used her command seals here 💀

  8. 4:56 THAT RIGHT, START SPAMMING LMFAO 😂👏👏👏. 6:14 a gun in always be funny in anime 😂😂. 8:27 smart. 9:02 LOOK WHO BACK IN ACTION, OUT BOI. 12:21 a city level attack is insane. 12:44 the universe summoning someone so op it made the sky flicker is actually insane. 12:58 did his powers get turned off?? 13:42 all this MFS pulling up out of nowhere!!. 14:17 DAMN.

  9. Insane ep. 16:57 speaking of teaming, the amount of teaming they had to do for these 2 MFS, gilgamesh and Hercules, is insane. 21:28 yeah where TF is she at. Also I'm sure y'all already heard the dope news, but beastars new season is up, AND dorohedoro season 2 will be out on the 1st of April. Can't wait for those reactions.

  10. Lmao that's some E rank luck right there gil shooting himself in the foot because he trew away his spare key and coincidently one of the 3 people that know how to use it was there

  11. What's a king to a Goddess! lol, i hope gil isn't dead but i won't be shocked if he is, he tends to get killed at some point of the competition, i guess they might have gone with the sooner the better so he's not hogging all the attention.

Only people that can use that key to lock his gates of babylon are gods i think, so ishtar (whose romantic advances he rejects in the epic of gilgamesh) appearing and doing that to him wasn't something he saw coming…..actually one of his noble phantasms allows him to see the future constantly and make the best decisions to win, and he could have just used it from the start and seen all this coming, but pride/ego/overconfidence/(boredom from knowing everything that would happen) and the fact he wasn't up against gods are reasons he doesn't use it.

  12. nor did it in the first alcides encounter your point?

when gilgamesh swatted the arrow it is stated the gauntlet was cracked did it have cracks no

they changed stuff in the novel for example you know the injuries severities

look at alcides in the novel when he got hit by the beam and slashed at by jack the only thing that hurt him was the beam and even after that when he got hit bu multiple which in the novel was stated to have even hit his guts and left him growing and in tether he the only outcome was he was growning

also it didn’t happen when its literally showed on screen

  13. Anime omissions from novel that was significant:
    1. John was fighting Alcides much earlier. He gained better superhuman physicality and the others then made the opening for him.
    2. Alcides did die to the hydra poison, but the immortality he gained from Chiron acted as a second life.
    3. Richard gets faster the longer he fights, including his Excalibur blasts.
    4. Gilgamesh used more shields, and Richard's blasts accelerated until it was a continuous beam.
    5. Gilgamesh countered by tying his NPs together with the chain of heaven. Richard could dodge, but was forced to make one more Excalibur to protect Ayaka, hence the result.
    6. Alcides VS Gilgamesh pretty much only had the end adapted. Alcides first used 9 lives with 3 arrows per shot, which ricocheted and homed in to shoot down all of Gil's NPs. Then, it escalated to Gil using elements in a pincer attack with Alcides using the full version of 9 lives that we saw.
    7. Gilgamesh was horrified when he heard True
    Berserker's scream.

  14. So I’m back with more explanations to enhance the experience this week! This one is going to be a bit lengthy though because despite how awesome this episode was, they unfortunately left a lot out or didn’t explain things well. That’s where people like me come in. This post will include some spoilers, but I have that part marked off so you can skip it.

To start off: JOHN STRANGE FAKE LIVES!!! (His last name is actually “Wingard”, but no one calls him that. Now, the question is, how did he live? Well, it’s thanks to Dumas’ Noble Phantasm, Musketeer’s Masquerade. It allows Dumas to strengthen a target by revising their personal experiences with his or those of the characters in his works. He basically empowered John right before he died so he could survive the attack. Pretty simple, just not explained in the episode.

It should be noted that Gil was actually trying to destroy the church when the roof caved in, but Richard blocked it, resulting in his injuries and the hole in the church (which was probably just from Richard falling through). It’s something that can be understood through the dialogue, but many reactors miss that apparently.

Sadly we once again see Gil being the victim on his own arrogance, granted he had no idea someone who could actually use his key besides himself was here. Gil actually has a high luck parameter (Rank A), but you wouldn’t know that with the Ls he takes in this franchise. Hopefully we can one day get a version of him that isn’t as arrogant, but that is half his charm I guess, lol!

Now, concerning Ishtar, Javon was correct that normally it’s impossible for a being like her to be summoned in a grail war. However, Taylor was also correct in pointing out that this war is different. Because of the incomplete nature of this war, it opened the door for things other than heroic spirits to be summoned. Heck, even Faldeus remarked that summoning Enkidu shouldn’t have been possible in Whispers of Dawn. However, that is not how and why Ishtar is here. In fact, she would be what is considered an invader in this war. I’m gonna do a spoiler alert like last week just in case they cover this at a later time so you can skip past it if you want:

    (spoiler alert starts here)

Ishtar actually put a curse on the world that made it to where if both Gilgamesh and Enkidu were ever present at the same time in history again, then she could come back. As a goddess from their mythology she already has a bone to pick with them as Gilgamesh to be the bridge between humans and gods but ended up becoming a tyrant and Enkidu, the weapon created to fight him, ended up becoming his best friend. The gods didn’t like any of that. Also, for Ishtar it’s personal as Gilgamesh rejected her advanced towards him. There is a lot in it for her to be here.

    (spoiler alert ended)

It should also be noted that Ishtar is an evil goddess. Heck, she told True Berseker’s master that she wanted to dominate humanity back in episode 7.

You were actually spot-on with the idea that it was partially Tine’s fault for Gil’s demise. In fact, the LN specifically calls this out. Unfortunately her literal child-like admiration for Gil clouded her judgement and she forgot her duties as a master in the moment.

Now to briefly explain Nine Lives. It’s one of Alcides’ trump cards. It allows him to shoot more powerful arrows than he normally uses and speeds he wasn’t utilizing before. It’s even described that he was pulling the bow with so much power and speed that it looked like it almost snapped the bow. He also did it more than just the one time in the novels. All we saw in the anime was his final barrage. Also, as a testament to how powerful those arrows are, the weapons from Gil that he broke were actually powerful enough to actually pierce the beast hide that even noble phantasm weapons have bounced off.

Btw, to give you an idea of how awful hydra venom is since both Gil and Alcides had to deal with it: Chiron from Greek Myth was an immortal poisoned with the venom and chose to abandon his immortality in response than to continue to endure it.

Okay, this has been rather lengthy, but I want to leave you with this last thing: the flowers that True Berserker left behind from their blast is a hint at who they actually are. I won’t go into further detail though. I’ll let the show (hopefully) explain their identity in time.

  15. So far they were adapting things without cutting out too much things out of the Novel, however in this episode they left out a lot of things. After the anime is finished and you want to see more of strange fake I recommend that you read the novel, it is 100% worth it.

Having mentioned that though, the next 3 episodes should be really peak if they do things correctly so I’ll be looking forward to you guys reaction!

  16. I feel that the anime did a very poor effort explaining what Flat did to Alcides. Bro made the imposible and more and hijacked the whole comman spell system to link Alcides through the np he stole from Jack to his command spells and use them to made Alcides almost self implode and cause more injuries than any other servant did on the fight. Also Alcides from this point considers Flat one of the most dangerous factors on the grail war.
