30 seconds, yay! I loved all the Maximum references this ep! Also, I was a musician for years, I cringed so hard when I saw the sax get destroyed. Surprisingly, I noticed a lot of people hating on this episode on Twitter/Bsky. Basically everyone was saying that Midvalley should have gotten killed, even though mercy is, yknow, the whole point of Trigun. They were also really upset about Wolfwood choosing to spare Midvalley as well.
i found the end of the midvalley fight when vash shows up a bit anticlimactic, that could have been a bit more dynamic imo BUT i agree this ep gave me hope 🫶
Every time someone lives that dies in the manga or the original anime I can’t help thinking there’s gonna be a mass slaughter of all these people later…. Or maybe that’s wishful thinking 😅
Overall, I'd say I enjoyed this episode of stargaze the most. Like you said, when it copies Trimax is when it's best. Although I have to say, I'm disappointed about the lack of Milly. From my point of view, in Trimax this scene is where Wolfwood realizes how important she is to him, but in this version, they don't even know each other 😭
I have mixed feelings about the space battle. It doesn't make sense to me that a bunch of colony ships would be equipped for war. I wish this was more western than space but I guess that's personal preference
I do like the mercy for Hornfreak, he was only following knives out of fear, after all. And Wolfwood being the one to extend his hand and show him another way is neat
Also, thanks for showing us your artwork. I've (slowly) been making my way through your other videos, and it's fun to see how much your art has improved over the years
I liked this episode better, my only critique is the same from the Beggining, The Pacing, we got MidValleyr Lore and End in a single episode, most thing could have taken longer and his giving up could have a felt a little more earnest, as in a bit more exploration of his character. I still like it, but idk.
Satrgaze needed 24 or 22 episodes at best, I can't handle the Idea of 12 with how much should happen. Milly is even more of a Non-Character than 98 or Manga. But that's aboiut it, as its own this is a very solid episode.
This was about as good a character-focused episode as one could want, I feel. Especially for the Hornfreaks out there. I gotta say, though, I'll be disappointed if whatever Leonof stuck himself with in episode 3 doesn't come back. I also do enjoy this possible setup of Vash usurping Knives' apostles and converting them to his own. All the manga stuff makes me very happy.
