Welcome to the heavy spoilers show, I’m your host Paul and it’s time to get dowwnnnn with Terminator Zero.
The franchise has said I’ll be back and it’s here in the form of an outstanding anime. The Netflix show goes deeper into the concepts of humanity, stopping fate and the price of it all. I really enjoyed the series and it feels like a throwback to classic like Ghost in the Shell and others.
There’s a lot to talk about and in this video we’re gonna break down the ending and talk about the easter eggs.
Now firstly I wanna go through that mindblowing ending and how we got there.
Much like The Terminator, a Terminator is sent back in time while a human resistance soldier is also sent back to protect the target.
Eiko has been sent back to stop what we think will be the death of Malcolm Lee. We open with her taking out a Terminator who has a mini gun just like the T-800 used in Terminator 2.
By downloading the data from it, she learns that Skynet is going to send a T-800 Terminator back in time to 1997, the same year as judgement day. The T-800 is the model that featured in that film with the t-100 in 1 and the T-850 in 3.
Right from the off you feel the authenticity of the series with the opening being akin to Kyle Reese’s vision in T1.
Now the series does slightly alter our understanding of time travel in the universe. The first film was a perfect loop with Kyle being the sperminator that would go onto create John who would then send him back so he could be created. The Terminator would in turn also create skynet by being destroyed and leaving behind it’s arm. Terminator 2 broke the loop but then 3 revealed that Judgement day could only be postponed and the loop continued.

Aside from some plot armor moments, and probably the most amount of plot twists I've ever seen, this series just rocked!!! I really enjoyed the whole philosophical debate about humanity. Whoever wrote this was pretty clever.
you forgot the big 'Yutani' easter egg, who merge with Weyland industries in the Alien Franchise, to become Weyland-Yutani, leading cyborg/android company… I can only imagine possibillities, for a major crossover in the future (imagine Skynet &/or Kokoro defending earth against Aliens)…
i always watch shows in their native language but just could not handle Malcolms Japanese voice actor so had to switch to English after three episodes. Other then that got my thumbs up. The German sheppard of course.
Where did the Koneko go during Episode 3. I demand my robo kitty to return damn it!!

So by the end they created another loop? Who would have imagined… The conclusion to Terminator is obvious either side wins in the Future War or The Past is changed in such a way that neither Skynet nor John Connor can exist, which creates a totally new Timeline free from the paradoxal nature of this conflict.
We need to get full details on the OG timeline and how the OG Skynet came to be, along with John Connor. Otherwise T1 is a repition of a Loop that was already in motion, which it clearly was since John already had the tapes from a Sarah Connor that lived the events of T1 and T2. T1 is happening for it's second time, at least. OG Connor is impossible to be Kyle's son, that's the paradox that screws the whole thing. If we fix that paradox or rewrite it out of the story then we can move forward.
The answer resides in the OG Timeline and in it's past. How did Skynet came to be for the first time. Instead of The Loop making Skynet happen earlier than it was supposed to and then everyone trying to delay it (since it's impossible to stop, T2 and then T3 existing confirms that).
We need an 80's and 90's sci-fi thriller about the dangers and horrors of advanced Cybernetics and A.I that tells us the Original unchanged timeline, the timeline that explains what should have happened to Sarah, who the original John Connor is and who his original Father is, how the FIRST time travel happened and how that MOMENT created the franchise as we know it.

I love the ending and yes. The Terminators can lie, like the scene in T1. The Terminator saying he was a friend of Sarah Connor and waited to see her. The problem is, they lie poorly.

Me too, but some of the action scenes really ruined the experience, specifically chapter 3

Its was a drama. Too much time was spent on emotional characters making emotional mistakes. Like most anime there was too much crying.
This is the best terminator story I’ve seen in a long time, perhaps ever. Super epic storytelling, made me cry sometimes, goes deep where no terminator has gone before
I'm watching this video minutes after binging this show for the first time, gives me huge cyberpunk edgerunners vibes. Amazing story that tugs on the heart strings a bit, super deep lore connections. Phenomenal visuals and soundtrack. Like many others I felt the Terminator franchise was dead after so many bombs but this series was absolute cinema. The deep philosophical questions about humanity will really make you think. So many plot twists and times had me guessing what the hell they were gonna do. This really deserves a season 2
Apparently I am in the minority, but I thought Terminator Zero SUCKED, and detracted from so many aspects that are crucial for the series. Yes, I am tired of rebooting and retelling the same continuity, but I also hate shoehorning in convoluted continuity with no heart or relevance.

The last ones i mostly enjoyed were Salvation 🤷♂️ and Sarah Connor Chronicles. This anime was damn good

You never know the ending could have been the original timeline
