iPhone 17 Pro Scratch Gate is Real — But its not your fault

There are only 2 ways to keep your new iPhone 17 Pro safe. Either never set it down, or, get a case. I recommend the dbrand Ghost Case https://www.dbrand.com/shop/iphone-17-pro-max Use code ‘JERRYRIG’ to get 42% off the the Prism glass when you put it in a bundle. Huge thanks to dbrand for sponsoring my channel for nearly a decade. The new iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max look AMAZING. I am a big fan of the metal camera bump, and aluminum unibody design.

However – in pursuit of aesthetic perfection – Apple has forgotten about the limits of coating durability. Anodizing does not stick to corners very well. And that law of physics will come back to haunt the owners of this new iPhone 17 Pro if they run without a case. The new iPhone 17 Pro camera plateau *will* chip.

Either way though – I would prefer a chip off the ol’ anodizing over a cracked back glass panel any day of the week.

Would you buy the new Apple iPhone 17 Pro? Or do you like the Glass slab style smartphone better?

  1. THANKS GRETA INSIGHT… I DIDNT LIKE THE PHONES ANS DONT FEEL LIKE UPGRADING AT ALL..Apple standard of quality and innovation has gone down drastically…sorry to say that…

  2. I am android user and i can tell you this phone is historic. The first high budget commercial phone that will bring the trend of hogh material amd possibly the end of regirlar scratches.😊😊

  3. Still haven’t found anyone rich or poor that does not use a phone case.that said I think the corners will probably end up chipping even with the case.

  4. hey bro im from india , should i purchase the pro max 17 model , considering poor scratch resistance due to bad anodizing of aluminium , my phone is a scratch magnet being a student, currently using a35 samsung

  5. That’s crazy I’ve had the iPhone 13 with no screen protector for years now and I’ve never gotten a scratch so an even more durable phone is good news

  6. I have no idea why people are so surprised that anodized aluminum scratches. Like yeah the camera plateau lip is a design flaw. But brah. Just get a clear plastic wrap and then put on a case and it’ll be fine.

  7. I bought the blue iphonepro , and yeah… it will be my phone for the next 5 years, or at least i will try, as long as it works i’m fine . the iphone 11 it survived with me 6 years got scratches,on the screen and the back , it was a very very good partner i switched it sonce a week with this new one and i hope it works just as good as the last one .

  8. why did they even go back to aluminum? Titanium was doing so well! The amount of times I drop my iPhone 16 is wild and it’s suprisingly looking good as new 😭

  9. Idiot proof on the dbrand screen protector yeah I disagree those things fail all the time, I guess my wife and I are idiots because we have had no better luck with those then just the 10$ ones on Amazon, I stopped buying them because those applicators suck and at 30$ pass .
