We saw Blue Archive at Anime Expo

[Applause] [Music] Anime Expo, the largest US convention that only happens once a year in the hot [ __ ] sun. I mean, it wasn’t that bad this year. Blive had a panel and it was pretty awesome, but I’ll get to that later. Also, I roommed with four very cool people that you might recognize, so make sure to remember their names. Oh, wait. Is he? Dude, I can’t even see you. Hey, what’s up, dude? Hey, I’m so happy you’re here. Um, we need to figure out a way to get in first. Day zero was uh pretty interesting. So, Al right here actually had 3 days to plan his trip. Yes, he originally wasn’t going to come, but through a miracle, his first day of work got moved. So, he went all the way from the Bay Area to LA using public transport only. And you know what? This guy got here before us, like like an hour before us somehow. Yes, LA traffic really is that bad. That’s Photoshop. Here’s some like random footage of us being really happy that we’re here and [ __ ] This is This is so [ __ ] awesome, bro. This is so awesome. This is unreal. What’ you say? It’s where the blue archive panel was. So, we just wanted to know where we were going to line up the next day. That’s not the Novo. Wait. So, if we go up here, is this the Novo? Yeah, it is. He actually gave us some very useful info for the panel in the morning, like when to start lining up, the process of getting in and etc. So, props to him. Right. Yeah. You want to line up 9 30 40 minutes before you really No, we’re good. Yeah, we’re good. Thank you for the info. Yeah. Yeah. Gotcha. Okay, so there’s going to be five. We actually didn’t do that much on day zero because we arrived at 6:30 p.m. We just went scouting. I got his badge. We ate dinner at Smashburger and made a god awful song. [Music] No, I’m not telling you the lore behind the SoundCloud account. Go look for it yourself. What? Actually, I have a bit of footage of me and Zuko chatting at like 2:30 a.m. or something because we just couldn’t sleep at all. I swear the only people that were able to sleep was Hash Brown and Al and looking over to the other bed. I only saw Chomp on his phone and he literally told us in the morning that he didn’t get sleep either. Hey guys, you here? Oh, I can’t sleep. [ __ ] this game, bro. Dude, Alice was snoring as [ __ ] crazy. And like an hour ago, someone knocked on her door twice. And we all walked over from that, dude. We’re planning to line up with the line in like 4 hours. This [ __ ] sucks, dude. It’s 2:00 a.m. right now. Yeah, I have to have to go to a concert at 7:00 p.m. Dude, I’m going to be up all [ __ ] night, dude. This is going to suck. Oh, yeah. By the way, you probably know I was cosplaying Kazuao this day, which was probably the best option because it was the most comfortable to wear while waiting in line. Zuko, Chomp, and I ended up getting no sleep at all, and we all woke up at 4:50 in the morning to head to the Blue Archive panel line. I swear they could have chose a better time and day to do this, but in hindsight, it was actually pretty convenient because it was literally the first panel in the Novo, meaning we literally had no other panels or other lines to compete with. So, we were probably like the sixth group in line. All right, guys. It’s the day of the panel. We’re going to be what do you what do you guys think? Uh this the first question down below. Yeah. But I was able to meet some of my online friends there, talk to some new people, and also just chill. Everyone was really nice and it was really enjoyable. So to anyone that was there, I just want to say thank you. But as we got in, I tried to hurry my group to get front row seats and we did. Before I show some of the pre- panel footage, we actually got onto the official Blue Archive Instagram story, which is pretty funny. [Music] Oh, wait. There’s a There is like in the in the thing. Yeah. Yeah. Is it this? What are your thoughts right now? How you feeling? Thoughts? Yeah. I stood in line for 4 and 1/2 hours. I got like 3 hours of sleep. This guy got none. I mean, what I would say though is we we might show up in like a press release or like something like who knows cuz like there was like photo ops one. Yeah, cuz we were doing like the like with Ukari’s uh Howdy. Who knows? I dude I still can’t believe we got We got by Look at And the still like Look at that. They got such a big I know. Like seats up there like What questions do you think they’re going to ask? This could possibly be the live stream camera right there. Maybe, maybe. Good thing we got these tote bags for free. So, after all that, we did take some photos at the unofficial photo shoot gathering, headed back to the hotel, and took a nap because, like I said, we didn’t get any sleep at all. And during that time period, since Zuko went to the J-pop Sound Capsule concert, we watched like episodes 1 through six of the Blue Archive anime. And we also did something really stupid. I didn’t even know how this topic was brought up, but Al Hashburn and I somehow ranked all of the Blue Archive students based on their social economic status. Just see for yourself. You already not not elaborating on wait. Uh we already went to problem solver 68. They’re all broke. Yeah. Jury her parents just wanted to get rid of her. They wanted her out of the kitchen. What can we even say? Economic. Her parents want her gone. They could be anything. Oh no. Oh. They’re all poor. They’re all poor. And one of them is dead. One of them is dead. Walk them up. I don’t probably orphaned or like [ __ ] just terrorist, bro. Either orphan to terrorist. I feel like there might be. She might have attachment issues. Yeah. [Music] I actually don’t have a lot of footage from this day. It was kind of more just like our filler day to cool off and do whatever we wanted until day three or four. I’m like, bro, I’m like drinking dirt right now. Oh yeah. I cosplay Kiko on this day, by the way, paired with Zuko Zukari. And as I said before, this was basically our free day. So, we went and lost money to the artist alley and the other halls to get everything out of the way. Yeah, I have like no footage of us in the artist alley, by the way. But we did do the blue co stamp rally. Shout out to all the amazing artists. [Music] Dude, what is Genchin Impact, bro? What is that? We should get a photo here. I already had two of these. Yeah, you do. It’s true. Okay. This one is This one’s crazy. No. No, this was at uh this was at the uh the hook up in my area. Psych 200. Oh, dude, I really want one of those coin pouches. Actually, I need one of those. The Nendos, too. Low key though, this day was chill as [ __ ] I really, really wish I got some footage of the cosplay gathering, but I counted as a cosplayer. So, yeah, of course, I wanted to participate. And to compensate, you can listen to me ramble while I put some photos of the day two gathering on screen because I barely have any more footage of this day. You know, it was really weird not having pockets for 3 days from someone who basically only wears pants all the time. Since all the cosplays I have literally have zero pockets and then I’m I’m dead ass. And all of them are skirts. I had to carry a bag with me the whole time. And yeah, it really was a pain in the ass sometimes because I had to keep taking it on and off and I didn’t want to ruin my cosplay. So, I mean, I could use that as an excuse for the reason I didn’t take any photos or videos during the gatherings, but gladly a lot of other people did. And the turnout for both days were actually pretty huge. We sort of watched the fireworks. I mean, I did from our hotel room. I mean, I feel like I was the only one who actually wanted to, honestly. I did post a little photo of Kaza and the fireworks outside of our window. You might have seen it on my other socials. Actually, our original plan was we were supposed to get sushi in Little Tokyo, but Zuko was just like, “Nah, [ __ ] that. We’re just going to order food to our hotel cuz I’m tired.” And as much as I would have loved to go to Little Tokyo that day, I was told it wasn’t the best decision to go there at night, but we’ll never know what happened, I guess. Since Choco was eating dinner at KBBQ with a different group, we kind of just abducted invited our other friend Lag to eat over at our room with us. And it was hella chill. Here’s some random [ __ ] that happened in between. What is this place, dude? Dude, there’s nothing else here besides the [ __ ] [ __ ] Yeah, with like overpriced water and like drinks. [ __ ] sucks. [ __ ] this actually is like stupid haunt here. Yeah, it is, bro. Did For some reason, every time I’m in here, I always feel like someone might like be camping in here. Yeah, that was basically day two, though. We made another god awful song as well. And we headed to bed. You got to take his dick and twist it off like McDonald. Here’s some footage of us getting ready, which I blurred for obvious reasons, but I cosplayed Otaco this day. Zuko, Chomp, and I were actually matching. Zuko was Misaki and Champa was Hiy. We were mostly in the entertainment hall at the beginning of the day. I think for like 4 hours or something, just getting photos at the cosplay sets. Here are a few photos. We actually got quite a lot, especially with the Arya squad. And also, here’s a video that Hashin recorded. It was pretty [ __ ] funny. What the [ __ ] What’s going on here? What’s going on, dude? I don’t know, dude. These Trinity students know what they’re doing. Yo, you’re smart. You’re smart. Reading a book. You’re stop [ __ ] spacing out in class, bro. What is this? Would you? Shout out to the Sefueumi cofire we wholesome on the way. I don’t remember getting their name, but they were actually really nice. I think by the end we also went to the Zen Stone Zero booth and this is where this iconic image of hash browns came from because we had to do a quote unquote mission to obtain freebies. Then we went back to the hotel to get ready for the cosplay gathering which I actually have footage for surprisingly. I’m dying. Yes. Yes. Excellent. Yeah, we are here. cuz I was always here. I’m kind of late. I keep kind of late. Damn. Which group was that? Uh 28. I don’t know how to pronounce his name, but I’ve had nothing today. Yeah, same here. Yeah, we have I’ve only had like two monsters. My feet are cramping. Really? How was this easy Z? It was I don’t think it was worth the wait. Guess what I got for 10 minutes already. This is not This is not worth it. This is not like a plastic uh It’s like you take photos through it. Oh, really? I mean, it’s kind of cool, but I don’t think it’s worth having to wait and then playing 10 minutes of just like random dog [ __ ] Yeah, I even try out Dufu. I wanted to try out her, but I play her in the story. Is that why? And while I put some photos on screen, I just want to talk about how [ __ ] awesome it was to have the full Arya squad at the gathering. Shout out to Dan, by the way. He freaking killed it as Saudi. And really, these photos of the full Arya squad and Dan just [ __ ] aura farming have to be my favorite of all time. Dan, if you’re watching this, you look [ __ ] amazing, man. I can’t wait to see what you have in store next year. Again, just looking at these photos fill me with an immense and unexplainable joy. It was just so freaking awesome. And yeah, thank you, Zuko, for lending me a lightsabers for some of these photos. They’re actually the coolest things to pose with. The main organizers of the gatherings also did a prize raffle where they gave away official and unofficial Blue merch. Myself and no one I knew won anything, but it was still pretty cool to see it. I actually don’t have more footage of this day. I ate at Denny’s with another group of friends because I didn’t want to order food to the room again. I hopefully I have photos. Um, should be on screen right now. And yes, I think we just [ __ ] around for like another 4 hours until we fell asleep. [Music] Day four. We unfortunately had to say goodbye to Al in the morning because he had to go catch his train and get home. I need to get out of here. I need to catch the train. You already know. I went to my like friend’s house somehow and I’m like, “How the [ __ ] where the [ __ ] is my shit?” That’s so awesome, dude. I was just running around doing nothing, just bothering people. [Music] I was actually torn between cosplaying Kaza and Kikio this day, but I cosplayed Kiko since her cosplay is way easier to move around in. So Tiko did Yukari again. Hey guys, Z here. We just got stopped by a three-year-old. So what happened today? So we woke up. Dude, Al woke up really early. Yeah. And he took a [ __ ] for like I swear he took a [ __ ] for 30 minutes, dude. I could not sleep for the life of me, bro. Wait, why? Cuz he was snoring. No, cuz like the [ __ ] light is on and I can’t awake. No, I know you were awake. I know. I know you messaged me, Biscuit. That was like the only thing I checked in the morning and then I [ __ ] fell asleep again. We actually did quite a lot this morning. We went to the cosplay sets in the entertainment hall again to take more photos, which I don’t have any footage for. And this one photo taken by Kishki was really pretty. So, I just want to say thank you again for suggesting this pose while I was there. This shot composition is really pretty. This Japanese set with Zugo and I was really awesome. Thank you to everyone who took photos of us there. And before leaving the convention completely, we also did one last ski through the exhibit hall and the artist alley’s R18 section. I swear I didn’t buy anything. When the fateful moment finally came, we left AX. Yeah, we just left AX. Yeah. We had a short afterparty meet up at IKEA and round one which we arrived at early. And unfortunately, I had a stomach bug and a nose bleed hit me during both of these meetups. So, I was kind of [ __ ] out of it, but here’s a few clips. There’s not really a lot of footage of these meetups, but yeah, it was really fun nonetheless. Speaking of that, I I got this clip. I’m going to pull it up. Solution to an infestation for that. local experts uh they inquire and advise that you create and I didn’t even get any videos of the yes fireball get your meister Burbank right there ever clear today I’m driving guys today I’m driving am I driving oh yeah I forgot I put those Dude, what the [ __ ] is Yo, I guess we’re not going to round one anymore, dude. I think we’re dead, bro. Look at my Uber driver. I’m going to jail, bro. I’m going to jail, dude. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. And with all my heart, I will cherish these moments forever. Goodbye. And thank you, AX25. Despite this video being sort of kind of just unserious, I guess I’m ending it on a somewhat more melancholic and reflecting note, I just want to talk about how amazing this was. And really, from the bottom of my heart, this was really such a wonderful experience to be a part of. First of all, I want to say thank you to Delta and Mate to Made for organizing the cosplay gatherings. Honestly, without you guys, none of this would have happened. And I’m so glad to know such amazing people that are able to make these gatherings possible. There’s something so beautifully radiant about having a group of people with the same interests unite with each other, talking to each other, and sharing the same feelings. Whether or not I spoke to you while I was there, I just want to say thank you for being there. Second of all, I want to thank my friends Zuko, Spook, and Chomp for encouraging me, even if indirectly, to embrace cosplaying as a new hobby of mine. If I’m being real honest, me a year ago would have never thought I would have loved doing this. I’m still a beginner, but a lot of wonderful people around me have given me a lot of good advice and encouragement, which makes me love cosplaying even more, and I most definitely want to keep doing it in the future. Third of all, I want to thank my roomies, Al, Zuko, Chomp, and Hash Brown, for just making each moment all the more memorable. I swear on the car ride back home on day four, I was legitimately on the verge of tears because I didn’t want to let those feelings go. Even being with these wonderful people is a miracle within itself. All the time I spend with you guys always feels so luminous. I could honestly say way more, but I’m going to cut it short because I don’t want to yap too much. TLDDR, thank you for everything.
