The name “Million Knives” makes a lot more sense
Not the reunion with his brother Vash was expecting. The way they animated the knives to be like tentacles gave me Silent Hill vibes. I feel bad for Vash cause he likes being with people, but then crazy stuff happen and he has to wonder from town to town.
My jaw was on the floor at the scene where he prepares to blend the entire town. This episode slapped!
Watched the first 3 episodes now. Gotta say I like the animation style. It's CGI but kind of has that old school rotoscope feel to it. Character design feels like I'm watching an old Don Bluth cartoon. (for you young'uns out there, he was with Disney back in the 1970s and made films via his own studio like Secret of Nimh, All Dogs go to Heaven and Anastasia)
Knives is a menace I love it

I was not expecting the main vain to show up so fast but heck gave me more and yes I could watch the orignal but I can wait
Not even going to cap. This episode is hands down a 10/10. I didn't expect that this episode will go down this hard and be this bloody. It was emotional, it was destructive, it was bloody to the core. I do need to say the OST and sound design they used was so great. It kicked off with the soft piano and Mr. Bomber man going into the saloon, gracing the appearance of his master, only to get his arms chopped off and them hanging on the door as he is spitting out blood.
That was a fantastic scene. I thought to myself, this town can't get a break. You had the military police trying to bombard them in the first episode, the scientist and his son trying to take away their supply with the plant and now you had Mr. Bomber who just wanted to steal to kill… Btw really liked his design and his "ball" chain ride whatever it was called. But after that you got Million Knives… Now I understand how he got that nickname… Fucking hell man. The animation was so good and people need to stop complaining about it. 3DCGI is making big progress. I still prefer 2D but 3D when done right like this can be great in its own way.
Also I'd like to point out that Vash's mentaility is being questioned with "Whose side are you on?" It's become a theme at this point but he's dealing with so much that I'm finding it hard to see where we go from here. Even after everything, after he saved this town more than once, got respect from the people, it all gets destroyed thanks to his brother who is very much a lunatic. With the power he has, it's going to be difficult to see how they take care of him. Vash has more than enough on his plate atm. And I'm excited and worried to see where this will go.
Man what an episode. This episode tells me this series has a lot of potential to be more than a good show. We need to wait and see but I'm looking forward to it.
Definitely a different take on the story compared to the original anime. I haven’t read the manga so I don’t know if this adaptation is more accurate or is doing things slightly different. Overall it’s good.
The beautiful irony in what makes Knives so dangerous, is that Vash is just as strong as him. Yet because Vash is the way he is, he does not want to hurt anybody. Even him pointing the gun to the bomber's head is just a means to intimidate with no actual intention to kill.
In the first episode I felt this version was edgier than the first adaptation. My friends were defending it like crazy and now this episode came. I laughed so hard when people were killed by Knives!
Knives is crazy and the exact opposite of Vash. There’s definitely inner struggling that feels similar to Thorfinn but in the opposite direction and not about revenge. The million knives being animated and destroying that rock and people was terrifying. The blood splatter was terrifying and unexpected since I haven’t seen bloody violence like that in 3D CGI and I didn’t know that was possible. So many people died brutally I swear. Looking it up online some of the characters shown and it seems like they are showing some of the characters from the old anime and some new characters from the sequel manga. I have a feeling that since the mangaka finished his series awhile back, he has a better idea to make me complete story arc or so by knowing all the characters and their direction. Also the original Trigun anime did have some filler and added content to space out some of the material compared to the manga. Also the awkwardness of motion capture and 3D CGI exists since real life motion isn’t necessarily as clean as anime movement I think. And treating this as something as new on its own merits seems difficult. This episode definitely went off though with violence and blood and caught me off guard
Hopefully they still make knives have his gun too, it was a amazing in the OG and I still think it can work here too. Most of the stuff in this episode is new none of it happened in the OG which is really good to see.
This version of Knives is on a different level
I am loving people, new and old fans, seeing the power and terror of Knives.
old skool Vash fan, but this episode goddamn got me shivers. never thought it would escalate to 100 in one episode. CGI so pretty!
