I can't believe someone dropped 30k, seems beyond a fishy sale to me. We all know even if the box was not searched through you are not getting a 10 and probably at best an 8? There is no way to make any money paying 30k for this box is why the sale seems fake.

I don't think I'd trust buying any old vending boxes…there were a lot of people cashing in on Hamlin cards, pretty sad how people try to cash in on tragedy
That 52 mays looks much better than a 6.. Wow
Why does Herbert get so much hobby love? Will he ever get to a super bowl? I mean with the other AFC QBs, I just don't see it. Just seems like a huge risk
Folk got to be really careful nowadays when buying sports cards from grading companies. Look at that Rookie Gretzky card #2 on the list. If you look at the top left boarder, the card is not level and appears to go downhill. No card in a pack from 1979 ever was like this. The margins may have been off but the cards were always cut correctly. This card looks like it has been trimmed to recieve a higher grade. In case your skeptical, I opened about 2 boxes of this when it 1st came out and still own 3 Gretzky rookies (I sold a few on the 90’s for $300 a piece…ow! Also look at the; bottom; it appears to have white chipping there. This year was notorious for chipping issues (even right from the factory) and great care and vigilance needed to keep them in perfect condition. Few people did this as greed hadn’t take over the hobby at that time.
From what I see in the photo I believe the card has been altered. PSA has shown themselves not as honest as we all assumed!
Back in October I found a linchpins card of Shaq in a $1 box. It had a cple bad corners. Prob would have been a 6 my guess. Sold it raw on ebay at auction for $206. Never know what you will find in a $1 bin
Thanks chris !
1979-80 Topps Hockey 30k Vending Box w/Steve Hart Logan Paul Pokemon Case Guarantee 🙄
Chris;
Concerning that vending box, we know these were used by rack jobbers to fill machines (like bubble gum machines) and came unsealed. How can blowout cards wrap it and claim it has been untouched? It is literally impossible to know this. They do it because they recieve a big fee to do so. Buyers beware!
Double check that Curry I recall it being a best offer accepted, 20k, on 130 point
Hiya Chris. Great stuff as usual. On the vending boxes? When opened and not messed with – there's a very special pattern that experienced collectors of vending will attest to and once one starts to separate the cards? It's virtually impossible to put back in that "observed" order pattern. If the case is opened by BBCE, then they can put FASC (from a sealed case) – these will go for a slight premium along with wax boxes e.g. On the ridiculous closing auctions? Always entertaining. Thanx for sharing – this is one of my favorite channels. 👍
If anyone has ever opened a late 70s or early 80s vending box….the cards came at very precise angle. More precise use than topps does things now even. Its like a 1986 topps traded set. You can tell if its been emptied and looked thru and put back. You could open that vending box and know instantly either way. Imo. Not a risk I could take hahahaha. Not with BBCE "STERLING" record over the past few years.
Your channel rocks, dude. I don’t even follow sports, I’m a marvel collector, but I started collecting soccer and basketball after finding your channel. Thanks for the empty bank account haha. Love from oz x
It’s going to be real funny, when the IRS comes looking for their money on those fake sales
good stuff! I was watching that 51 Mays. Not a 7 in my book, and it's not close. That print line is a real issue.
looks like a pretty big stain on the pele rookie around his name on top of little stuff
i don't think the Hamlin cards on ebay were legit but i did see sales of multiple $1,000+ of similar autographed cards on COMC the day of that event, have to imagine those sales are legit
weird prices = lazy money laundering
Truly a shame that people want to profit off of misfortune. No further comment
My understanding is that FASC is the only way BBCE will wrap and certify vending boxes.
I’ve gotten some of the best cards out of vending boxes over the years.
how much can I g et for my Willie Mays Hays rookie?
I would love to see that black curry in a psa 10 pop up one day. It’s probably at least a 500k card
thanks for the fake rollers show at the beginning…All shiney kindlin..T-Law 50K…Har har har dee har har. Thanks for sharing BB card exchanges business plan. Open… stuff with garbage, wrap and sell for 40K
The card shop I work at has a bunch of vending boxes from the mid 80s, but we decided to just go through them ourselves. It felt too risky to sell them, too easy for the buyer to file a claim or make a return after taking out the good cards. A couple have the same bbce wrapping as that hockey box, but still not worth the risk.
I sell a lot of cards, and the expensive ones (1500+) are much more likely to either not get paid or to request a cancellation almost immediately after paying. I would expect that the more expensive they get the more common that gets. There are a lot of stupid shithead buyers on ebay.
I'd love to see a break down of any cards that you may have purchased from ebay (or similar) comparing the claimed grade that the seller thinks it is VS what it actually gets. Would like to know how far off the listing's usually are. They always appear to over sell the grade. Thanks.
How cool would it be to own ANY PSA 10 rookie from the amazing Dmitri Young collection..
There was a bit of mentioning of legit and non-legit sales on this video. Is there a reason why people would fake a sale on eBay then just relist the card later? I'm assuming that it's to artificially drive up the price of that card and they just "buy" the card with another account they own then just cancel it.
Been watching your channel for awhile, you have great content! I was curious what website you use to see what price Best Offers sold for? Thanks!
Some of the Hamlin cards went for so high because they were for charity
The Pele card was relisted, assume the buyer didnt pay. The $21K sale was for the same card.
The black curry actually sold for $20K. That's what it shows up as on CardLadder.
That 52 Topps Mays is stunning
Mad Jay-Z bars, Chris!
I have been told when you see cheap cards listed so crazy high that it's related to money laundering.
The quality I got with baseball vending boxes from the 80s was a little shaky…that 52 Mays could have been an 8!!! I hate to say it but I see a big decline in the Herbert cards. Risky buy on the Mantle

You should do a video on the high rollers since you started and do an average of the sales in each one as a data point showing how the market has gone you could maybe exclude extreme outliers but I’m not sure. It would be interesting to see
way to much fraud going on in sports cards , ebay needs to step it up and stop the posting
of Reprints all together
As soon as Hamlin came back to life his cards went belly up….
