This video essay breaks down how Trepang2 flips the power fantasy on its head. We’re diving deep into the game’s narrative, mechanics, AI systems, and environmental design to explore how it turns you into the thing every soldier fears. No morality. No backstory. Just a loaded gun with no off switch. From the disturbing story of Subject 106 to the haunting aftermath of each mission, this is a game that doesn’t ask who you are. It shows you. And it lets everyone else scream.

Why the hell am I only hearing about this masterpiece now? All of the AAA games that have come out since this games release don't come close to its quality.

The syndicate doesn't recapture you in the hidden ending though. The text is red and even through to the final mission syndicate text is blue so the person outside is likely someone else, the drones themselves warn 106 about the syndicate lying to him and drone 7 is another thing that tells 106 to Break the Cycle. Also you neglected the side missions as well as the other subjects inscribed onto 91's mask and the fact that 95 was still alive in the Omega facility. The guy in the hidden ending sounds the same as 95 and with the 106 clones that are within Omega there's a good chance that it's a 95 clone or even 95 himself if he survived Omega's destruction.
I can sense the SCP inspirations. The Foundation, the GOC, the Sarctics, ect. Really cool!

Headcanon: 106 was given supernatural powers at the cost of looking like a sea cucumber, which explains why he's all covered up.
Fun fact, this may be alreafy written here, but in the 107 fight, using the incendeary shotgun lights him on fire making his own invisibility relatively useless

My reflexes are too slow for this game, per my attempts, but damn was it comical to play. Being the thing that bumps in the night and the moral dilema it poses.

That is a pretty good story. It did not have the hook the Bioshock 1 had, but the ending seams to be better.
I cant take another second of this game. Its not fun not being able to SEE ANYTHING! Not fun without being able to aim! Until they make improvements like brightness settings which there is nor the ability to aim I I dont want to play this. Other thing I find myself running arounds rooms more than actual combat this game sucks ass atm

the syndicate is smart, but reviving someone that would gladly kill them all again is unlikely
i agree that 106, in the secret ending, is somewhere else, revived by someone else with his memories intact so he can continue to stomp the living hell out of the syndicate
