Chillin’ in My 30s After Getting Fired from the Demon King’s Army (Japanese: 解雇された暗黒兵士（30代）のスローなセカンドライフ, Hepburn: Kaiko Sareta Ankoku Heishi (Sanjū-dai) no Surō na Sekando Raifu, lit. “The Slow Second Life of the Retired Dark Soldier in His 30s”) is a Japanese light novel series written by Rokujūyon Okazawa and illustrated by Sage Joh. It was serialized online via the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō from November 2018 to July 2020. It was later acquired by Kodansha, who have published three volumes since August 2019 under their Kodansha Ranobe Books imprint.

Dariel is a soldier in the Dark Lord’s army who cannot use magic. Instead, he wields his intellect and initiative as an assistant to one of the Dark Lord’s most trusted captains. But when the captain is summarily replaced, Dariel also loses his privileged position and is fired. In disappointment, he retires in a village of humans, getting a new start in life by using his abilities to accept requests for help.
