  15. Aoi: Do you know of Tachikawa base’s 7 mysteries Haruichi? The centaur, the mermaid with an 89 score on karaoke, the flatland witch, and the kitchen Kamaitachi. These make up the true paranormal stories thus far.

    Haruichi: There are various things to touch on here, but first, isn’t that only 4 of the 7

    Aoi: That’s exactly right. That’s why as a member of the third division I thought that I can’t overlook the missing mysteries.

    Haruichi: What a strange sense of duty…

    Aoi: Therefore, I’m doing my best to think up new true paranormal stories.

    Haruichi: If you think them up, I don’t think they are “true” stories, but whatever. Did anything exciting come to mind?

    Aoi: Ah about that, how about a giant sea urchin?

    Haruichi: Sea urchin?

    Aoi: It appears in the early morning training grounds – the giant sea urchin. Terrifying isn’t it?

    Haruichi: Yeah, real bad… I guess it works as a paranormal story idea.

    Aoi: Of course it does. Big things are scary. Sharp things are scary. Things with unreadable emotions are scary. Therefore, a giant sea urchin is definitely scary.

    Haruichi: What is that self-confidence?!

    Aoi: Try to imagine it. What if right before your eyes, there was a soccer ball size sea urchin rolling around. Anyone would be like “Uwah a big sea urchin!”

    Haruichi: They would, they would. But so what?

    Aoi: So you’re saying that the surprise-type of horror has a bad reputation

    Haruichi: Giant sea urchins are considered horror?

    Aoi: That’s right, you’re the distinguished son of the Izumo Tech family

    Haruichi: Just because I’m rich doesn’t mean I’m used to seeing giant sea urchins. It’s simply not scary.

    Aoi: I see, to think my giant sea urchin would be rejected. I guess I’ll have to go with a giant chestnut (イガグリ – looks like sea urchin)!

    Haruichi: That’s hardly a variation. Barely anything changed!

    Aoi: But Haruichi, what if before your eyes a giant chestnut was rolling around. You’d say “Uwah a big chestnut!”

    Haruichi: Yeah you would, but that doesn’t mean it’s scary!

    Aoi: I see. By the way, sea urchins have 5 teeth in their mouth. Because ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle noted that it resembled a lantern, it is called Aristotle’s lantern.

    Haruichi: Sudden trivia…

    Aoi: Sorry, I suddenly wanted to say that.

    Haruichi: Wow, you seriously investigated sea urchins.

    Aoi: Yes, but apparently I didn’t have the talent for a paranormal story.

    Haruichi: Oh no, that discouraged you. What if we try to reference another scary story? Did anything happen at your last job?

    Aoi: During my time at the self-defense force huh? Before a military exercise, a colleague lost live ammo.

    Haruichi: A real scandal. Woah, look over there! A huge sea urchin!
