The Re: Monster light novel was completed in 2017 with 9 volumes, and its sequel, Re: Monster: Ankoku Tairiku-hen, is still ongoing with over 3 volumes published. Since Season 1 only adapted the first 3 volumes of the original novel, there is plenty of material for a second season!

Despite some criticism, Re: Monster performed exceptionally well on streaming platforms. It consistently ranked among the top 3 most popular anime on Crunchyroll in the West and the Middle East during its release, accumulating over 60,000 ratings. It also performed strongly on Abema TV, Nico Nico, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video in Japan.

With high viewership and abundant source material, a Season 2 renewal seems highly possible. However, considering the complex production process, the earliest possible release window would likely be 2027.
