  2. I agree with Askeladd that Ragnar was preventing Canute from growing as a person, it was still sad to see him get killed. Also it was really interesting seeing him reaching for his sword in his last moments, did he still believe in Valhalla?

The thing about the death of characters in vinland saga is it always make me feel the same way as real life death, every person has a future(a room to grow) and it feel unfortunate that it has to end like that and I feel that the death in this show has more weight to other living character than any other show.

    The way every reactor so far can say that they're liking Askeladd as a character the most is amazing, can't wait for you to understand more of him.

  12. Askeladd its the only one of the group that kill without smilling, all the vikings loves to kill and smile doing it, but Askeladd its always serious about killing someone because he hates how the dannes act.

    He’s a piece of shit, is very clever and he’s charismatic as well that why is the perfect villain

  20. Askeladd is all over the place as a character. You kinda understand his motive and his goals, but oh boy does he get his hands beyond dirty go get it done. He murders an entire village for their supplies, just so he can keep moving forward and put his plans into motion. Kinda funny how Thorkell also has to stay holed up at an English town, and it seems he is just gently strongarming the town into giving him the food. Thorkell is actually quite chill and mellow, when he is not in blood lust mode.

  21. Askeladd is a piece of shit and I wont hear otherwise. I know about his sad childhood, but that is no excuse for all the evil he did in his life. Of course, that does not mean he is a bad character.
    Its the opposite, actually. I hate his personality but he is one of the best characters in this show. Even more interesting than Thorfinn. Still I just cannot pity the guy, and when I watched I was just waiting for him to die already.

    Yes, you got it absolutely right. The first season of Vinland Saga has core of entire Attack on Titan, that is, getting out of the cycle of hatred and violence. But Season 2 is a different story.

  46. Seeing them react to Ragnar's death I can already foresee how certain character's appearence will make them drown the room with tears.

  47. Maybe an unpopular opinion but to me King Sweyn is thinking like a true King, He still loves his son and wants Canute to go to Valhalla by dying in combat. It would be a hell of a lot easier for the King to assassinate Canute. Succession back in the day was very complicated and messy when you had multiple sons so I understand why he wouldn't want civil war that could potentially dismantle his kingdom.
