This really shows the duality of the world in Vinland Saga. Some people live for violence, while some are horrified by it.

When a character is desgned just like a hokuto no ken villain, you know that he will act like a real badass

This scene shows us a two different types of people. One who think they can fight in a war ( Ketil, Olmar) and the other are those battle-hardened people who have seen its horrors with their eyes but still go and cut down their enemies no matter who opposes them. Tbh, I think majority of the audience comes under the first type since we have always glorified wars and fight. Now that I think about it, its almost crazy people liked S1 more than S2 cuz of the irony that they watch this show which is about non-violence for more violence.
I admire Thorgil's strength because I am a coward like Ormal.

Its actually quite symbolic how olmar couldnt cut his head completely off. Even after thorgil told olmar to imagine the moment he cuts off his head. It shows both their resolve when it comes to taking another persons life
