The Transformers The Movie opening destuction of Lithone did a better job than Star Trek Generations in appealing to emotions and showing the threat, and in less time.
I never liked the plot of Generations and thought it was a missed opportunity for great storytelling. Using the same characters, to bridge the two series.
The Du'Ras sisters come apon the information reguarding the Genesis Device and hire Michael McDowell's character to track down either the device itself or the scientific data.
The Enterprise D tracking the sisters, discover the Enterprise was involved in whatever the sisters are looking for and call apon Spock for assistance.
He tells the story of Enterprise A and her final mission to hide the information and final Genesis Device.
They could even freeze Kirk to be awakened to fight along side Picard in the final battle.
The Defiant is justifiably maneuverable.
