The old nr.2 being alive was a surprise but now she is a survivor and looks all beat up,that long hair sure is beautiful tho. I wonder what she will add to the story,in her time fighting alone she might have learned many truths that are hidden from us,especially after feeling betrayed by the command because they wouldn’t send reinforcements.
Seeing so many dark episodes will make anyone go into cardiac arrest
What a lovely but also sad episode. As we start with Lily having ptsd flashbacks. To her former crew, of which she was the weaker member of. I really did like the designs and personalities of the Androids that was shown. In this flashback we saw the last time the resistance and the YoRHa models work together. Because of the leader of both groups decided that it was better to work together then alone. And I got to say that I also this version of 2B, as she was so kind and thoughtful. In how she saved Lily from a virus that was inflecting her. As she otherwise would have been so dead. But seeing Rose getting so affected that she almost killed Lily was so good as that proves that they really have emotions and regrets. Then that battle was a slaughter for them as they wanted up against 100 of thousands of robots. Especially as the androids get their heads vaporized as they did fall one by one. But the resistance and YoRHa models keep fighting side by side until the end. Which was beautiful to see. And that scene when Lily tried to end herself was especially sad to watch
This episode answered my earlier question of whether they were going to use exclusively the game OST. It is no. There was definitely a new song that was not in the game. It also differs a little in style, sounding like something halfway between the game OST and something out of Yuki Kajiura's feather.
So they did switch Anemone and Lily. In the game and the stage-play it's Lily who dies and Anemone who lives to become the resistance leader. I wonder why they made that change. Though it certainly makes things easier in terms of pronounciation. ^^
Funny you should mention a big explosion, since if I remember correctly the game said that the base exploded after the server was shut down, albeit with just enough delay for Anemone to get away.
This is also the first time the post-credits wasn't a direct bad/joke ending from the game, but a much more free interpretation I guess you could call it. The gone fishing end does exist in the game, but it's 2B who does it, not Adam.
its nice to see this part animated, in the game it was actually a easily missible text novel you could find by talking to the resistence leader at a certain point then checking her computer, interestingly enough for some reson they changed who the surviving member was, in the game it was anemone instead of lily, not sure why they changed it maybe lily was just an easier name to say

They managed to put the A2 stage play and the wall text into the episode. I’m thoroughly impressed.
The logic virus scene was too visceral and painful to watch. Having played the game… I say this is a precursor of things to come. I’ll just sit back and watch everyone’s responses while eating my bowl of popcorn.
I also loved how they included the symbolism with the blindfold visors. It’s definitely one of those show don’t tell symbolism. Again, interpret the blindfold visor as what you may.
You're very observant. I didn't think you'd pick out some things as someone who didn't play the game.
This show is awesome. It's playing out just like the game more or less but it's telling the story with better drama, cinematography etc.
Anime of the Year Candidate at the very least
I'd say it's a bottom half episode for me, except for the ending of the episode. That was so emotional for me

To Yorha Eternity
This anime is attempting to consolidate all the Nier Automata content out there. This episode covered one of two stage plays. But even in doing that there are subtle hints and changes that the anime might be its own timeline of events. Those who have played the game HAVE to have picked up on it after what's happened up to now.
Am I wrong, or did this episode low key show all the 'humans' in the resistance being androids, especially the part where you see the shot with the dead body (hand) and the flower? Am I crazy to believe this?
I find it curious that the androids have such an obvious tell whether they are affected by a logic virus (red eyes).
Especially when you combine it with the mandatory blindfolds for the Yorha units that seemingly serve no purpose.
Wouldn't surprise me if there is more to that combo.
This is the "past" of A2, we can read some parts in the game and there is a stage play, yeah a stage play in Japan with the story too, however they decided to animate it for the anime and Im soooo happy for that <3

Awesome, they've animated this part. I think I remember reading this story in one of the resistance base computers. There're a few changes, but it explains A2's origin.
Ep 6 is easily the best episode of the anime yet.

PS when an android other than a Yorha dies their memories are not backed up to the bunker so once they die that's it there's no coming back that is why an explosion via black box reaction is not an option because it will take everything away in the vicinity including they themselves. In this case since this Yorha unit was abandoned so even they couldn't back up their memories anymore.

So is Lily an android or a form of mechanic life I thought she was human I was so shocked When I saw her getting a virus and the super strength. How is she able to dream? And most of the females in her group when they were killed have robotics parts in them only the captain had blood before she send lily away. I'm really lost can someone explain please. Thanks
I was cind of suprised when they revealed these resistance fighters were androids too, with that logic virus and the fact that they can'T dream. I totally thought they were Human fighters who rarely got support from the Yorha Units.
Did I miss or forget some prior information? How were you not suprised by them being androids too, Brandon?
Now I think the humans in space might be the only biological humans and the war on the planet is a total machine war. Android machines vs regular machines.
