I Really Love The Fate Series

The Fate Series has been one of my hidden pleasures within the anime medium that really locked me in. After watching Fate Zero, Unlimited Blade Works, Heaven’s Feel, The Grand Order Universe, and preparing for Strange/Fake, today I wanted to talk about my love for this series and go piece by piece. Thank you for watching, your support is greatly appreciated!

  1. honestly my fav scene in all of fate is in heaven's feel. The whole sequence where shirou uses Archer's arm and surpassing him will always live rent free in head, he truly is the goat.

  2. I’m gonna say this is LB2 Spoilers for FGO but….

Another cool concept i just got introduced to is the Sirius Lights, a mystic code that amongst other things (not gonna spoil) it’s implied it can even let you choose your servant rather than needing a catalyst to summon a servant like usual.

also there’s so many good servants and characters in FGO if you like VNs you’ll love FGO it’s storyline is crazy good

  3. Fate isn't just all about historical and mythological figures coming back and duking it out because many other stories have also done it such as Record of Ragnarok. Fate adds much more twists in the stories of the Heroic spirits and often give them a human element compared to just treating them as bigger than life legends. Take Jeanne D'Arc for example who's backstory shows the brutal reality of war and how it turns people into hateful and vicious beings who see other people as monsters simply for being their enemy, a belief that Jeanne rejected and instead saw her actions in the war as evil than see herself as a saint like other people. And the Holy Grail War is simply a narrative tool to facilitate characterization and the story. Its the perfect excuse to bring all these figures as well as people together into a melting pot and have them interact and what not.

  4. The only reason why seventh singularity: Babylonia and sixth singularity: Camelot have an anime is because they won the popularity poll. To be honest, they are considered the best singularities, although some crucial parts were cut from the anime to avoid confusing those who only watch the anime. Another reason is that the other singularities range from being okay to downright confusing (in a bad sense). It's fortunate that Nasu himself had to step in after the fourth singularity to improve the story. Imagine the creator himself, need to take charge to make the story better.

    First Singularity: Orleans
It started off mostly okay and had a good beginning for the singularity.
Pros: Siegfried and Saint George, two of the most famous dragon slayers, taking down Fafnir was a great concept. Jalter was a strong and interesting antagonist. The servants were amazing.
Cons: This singularity became the template for the next ones.
    My rating: 7/10

(And let's not forget the Regend and Savior of France, Sasaki Kojiro, and the meme, Sumanai.)

    Second Singularity: Septem
    Pros: Nero and Atilla.
Cons: Everything else. This was the worst singularity, so bad and forgettable that no player really knows what happened. It's like a fever dream while dosing yourself in cocaine and sleeping pills.
    My rating: 2/10

    Third Singularity: Okeanos
Pros: Better plot and story development compared to Septem, but still not that good. Characters are okay.
Cons: Horrible pacing and a terrible villain.
    My rating: 5/10

    Fourth Singularity: London
Pros: The characters are really great. At this point, it has the most stacked characters. The servants are all interesting and great. The unique concept of being Sherlock Holmes in a detective story is fascinating.
Cons: The story and executio is terrible, but not as forgettable as Septem. Also, the setting in London is the least enjoyable one. Just imagine going from the medieval era in Orleans, Ancient Rome in Septem, and the sea and island adventures in Okeanos, to foggy London in the 20th Century.
    My rating: 6/10

    Fifth Singularity: E Pluribus Unum
Pros: This one is amazing. The characters are fun and enjoyable. The intense fight scenes between servants using the Midwest as the background are thrilling. The unique ideologies among the three opposing factions are intriguing. The villains are great. There are some sad moments, like Sita sacrificing herself to save her husband Rama.
Cons: The story is jarring in some parts.
    My rating: 8/10

  5. Have you Watched Prisma Illya? :

If not, all Imma say is PLEASE jus watch it, cause despite the stupid Loli bs, there's a great story and some of the best animation I've seen Ina while , very worth pushing through.

  6. The fate seriesmtruly slaps, There is a couple of misses (Looking at you last encore), Nasu's insistance on undoing his own lore just because and a couple of other issues. All in all its a freaking awesome series that is sadly gated by how akward it is to get into, which isnt even that hard just the fate community makes it difficult (Try telling people on the Fate reddit you havent read the original VN and have no intention of doing so, hooooooo boy do they get mad).

Rider vs Salter is one of the best anime fights ever made and I will die on that hill.

  7. Fgo's story is indeed one of the best if not the best in the enitre type moon franchise. Also if you plan to watch the Last Encore, dont bother, its not worth it. Unless if you just want to see Nero.

  8. "i really love this franchise"
    >never plays the og visual novel
    >watches only half the anime and out of order
    >only interested in the Fate part of the Nasuverse
    >never even read any manga or played any games

    yup, it's normie time

  9. I could say a lot about my personal experience with fate, and for a lot I mean a lot but I don't want to annoy anyone who's gonna read my comment, so the only thing I can really say is that I'm glad that I am currently living in an universe where fate exists, It's just that kind of thing that I couldn't live without. Thank you kinoko nasu for creating this amazing story.
And if anyone was wandering, yes, It's worth it spending thousands of hours watching/reading/playing every possible think related to the nasuverse, the more you know about, the more you'll get addicted

  10. Best series, bar none. Got hooked off of Zero into UBW and took the full plunge from there. Going to AX to see the first episode of Strange/Fake firsthand

  11. Fate route remake and full fate prototype adaptation should happen common ufotable. Honestly if I were to pick I'd like to see a full adaptation of fate prototupe first then fate route(saber)

  12. Im not gonna lie, there is nothing more hype than fighting Goetia for the first time. Several years worth of battles all accumulates to this one duel. And the remixed Shikisai track is just a cherry on the giant ice cream top

  13. TL;DR 5:21 TL;DR Camelot was where Nasu stepped in to write the story, so the ones before it were seen as "bad" in comparison. So they just didn't make movies of them because they were less popular.

  14. You should watch kara no kyoukai it takes place in the same universe. You see one of the characters at the end of heaven's feel ( serch for the watch order, the movies came out order for example movie 1 is actually movie 2)

  15. I really really don't recommend last encore without playing fate extra its super confusing and even then some players didn't get it fully

the animation is fire… but thats about it

Honestly watch if you want but don't expect greatness (or even goodness)

  16. It's incredible to think that you really just kind of tipped your toes into the franchise if we let it sink in, that the currently running Lostbelt 6 of Fate/Grand Order is apperently due to word count about 2/3 of the size of the whole Fate/Stay Night VN alone. Grand Order alone is already massive.

I think it's kind of funny how Fate/Grand Order is basically an isekai story, but it always feels fresh because it is either a manipulated timeframe of our world or a totally derailed one in Cosmos in the Lostbelt. If we think about how badly isekai as a genre itself kind of stands every Lostbelt has been received pretty well so far, since they remain fresh and interesting in their own regard.

Fate as a franchise can really pull it off to stay relevant for a long time, but only because the franchise is used correctly. They change characters and tell different stories of different parts of this universe. Like the Shirou story of Fate/Stay Night, the Kiritsugu Story of Fate/Zero to enhance the SN background, the El-Melloi Files to tell us more about the mage society and the mage tower, the whole Grand Order in a parallel universe, where the Fuyuki HGW was fought by totally different masters and won by the founder of the Chaldea company that runs the show in FGO. It's good that the creators let main characters off the hook for some parts of the stories to tell different aspects. You can also dive into Kara no Kyoukai to learn more about the mystic eyes in the Fate universe.

  17. Fate/Strange Fake is absolutely insane story-wise. you’re gonna love it, and hopefully after the OVA airs they’ll announce a full series for it

As for Grand Order, there’s still so many great chapters that deserve to be adapted, especially Cosmos in the Lostbelt (Arc 2)

  18. Give lord el melloi, kara no kyoukai, and the upcoming witch if the holy night a chance.

Lord el melloi is basically magic detective with a fan favorite protagonist Waver velvet.

Kara no kyoukai is one of the best typemoon stories that has a unique concept and something lord el melloi is related to, but i won’t spoil

Witch if the holy night has relation to kara no kyoukai but it dives deep into the concept of magic
