What are you doing here, Eren?
Peakland saga is back man
I think The dental and throat inspections are for health purposes.
Contrary to popular belief, people DID take care of their teeth before modern toothpaste, but with the lack of germ theory, there was close to nothing someone could do against bacterial infections, such as strep.
If someone was gonna spend big bucks for a slave, they were going to make sure it was at least a healthy slave (think of it from their perspective as an investment).
I feel like Einar's flashback hits a lot harder for manga readers since it's never shown what happened to his family and only mentioned once while he's talking to Thorfinn. Had me teary eyed too. This 24-episode season is about to be great, I can feel the passion from the staff regarding the source material and I can barely contain my hype and tears for upcoming events.
Vinland Saga is one of my absolute favorites; from the story, to the art, to the themes and the message. It's also one of the trickiest mangas/animes to recommend, because Season 2 is so completely different in tone than Season 1- yet I feel you've got to watch the Prologue to feel the weight of Thorfinn's burden and apathy.
Yessssssssssssss finally
My fav anime
Vinland saga is the best
Fun fact:
Unlike what yall said, America's Correctional system is VERY MUCH slavery-based.
I'm not even being hyperbolic, slavery IS legally allowed as a "proper" penal punishment in the 13th Amendment, and plenty of states take advantage of that.
There are plenty of instances of slave labor in our prison system.
Day 2 Since Vinland S2 Began: My eyes are tired out… tears won't stop… this is going to be a hard 24 weeks.
Farmland Arc…. LES GOOOO!!!! Kids are gonna hate it – but adults will love it! best redemption arc in seinen anime is upon us xD
King Sweyn(Svhen) of Denmark offered Askeladd a stark choice: the security of his mother-land Wales, or the life of his master, Prince Canute(Can-oot). Askeladd's answer was immediate: He struck off Sweyn's head. The meeting of military leaders erupted into chaos after this act of regicide(the action of killing a King), but Canute recognized the play at hand, and killed Askeladd himself, thereby accomplishing Askeladd's aim. Canute immediately took the throne. But after witnessing the end of his father figure, Thorfinn was left empty inside. He was eventually sold into slavery to work on a farm.
Translation Notes
Hávamál
A poem found within the Poetic Edda, a collection of Old Nordic poems. The title translates to "sayings of the high one," and the contents of the poem are attributed to Odin. The Japanese translation, when not simply titled "Hávamál," is known as "the song of Odin" or "the proverbs of Odin." Hávamál is a gnomic poem, meaning that its verses are meant to serve as lessons or advice on customary topics, such as the laws of hospitality for both guest and host.
This first episode was simply amazing!!! Had me completely drawn in. The OP is fantastic and the ED song is just beautiful. Idk who the VA for the opening monologue is, but I thought it was amazing and loved their voice
great reaction! hard watch, but please endure!!
i actually liked the ED over the OP tho…
He lost 2 dad, and now he lost himself.
Poor thorfin, this arc will be emotional.
My god the mother's voice acting is incredible at the start holy shit
its episode 1 and Im damn crying too
The field scene wasn't about Valhalla, it reminded him of his own home and field that he built at the beginning of the episode, before it was home, now he has to work on someone else's field as a slave, hence the "you still think i haven't lost" comment
poker face about the baby. 🙈☠️😂
Man just put vinland saga reactions in one playlist. This whole dividing by seasons is confusing I can’t find the s1 reactions now 😂
they are already crying from first episode, excited to see how they are going to handle the later harder episodes
