This show's vibes remind me of one of my all-time favorite anime comedies: Kamen no Maid Guy. While that show doesn't really have any deeper themes, its jokes are riotously funny. The premise is that a young heiress' grandfather hires this insane buff man with a million batshit powers to be her maid/bodyguard.

Ah DMC is a series that asks do you do what you hate because you're good at it or should you do what you love even if you're bad at it?
I remember this being picked for our college anime club as a troll, and we ended up loving just how ridiculous and over the top it was. Probably helped it was around the same time as peak Metalocalypse. At an anime con after it came out there was a panel and we went around as a group chanting Go To DMC. And wholeheartedly agree with the live action movie. Its great and the music is even better.

I loved this manga back in the day, I used to read it alongside Beck. I was disappointed by the anime for Detroit metal city, I couldn't put my finger on why though. Same thing with Beck's anime adaptation. Again unsure why
