Thorfinn got a grim reminder of what his own mother must feel, losing her son suddenly to Viking raiders.
And Canute is in his way to ketil's farm.. 😢
Slave masters have nothing to hide from their spouses or families. They essentially indulge in whoever they want, as slaves are considered property.
In the manga, they also make it clear that Arnheid's son was killed. The manga shows a sword about to cut him in half but just as it hits the son, it cuts away. I don't know y the anime censored it.

Esse episódio foi muito interessante, fiquei muito triste por Arnheid, ela praticamente é tratada como uma prostituta na fazenda e isso é muito triste.
I already read the manga first, it was fun but it was slow. But watching the animation, it's much more fun than the Manga thanks to the directing and music.
Two ep ago : " F*ck off Canute leave the farm alone " .
Now : " you know what i kinda forgot they own slaves I'm not really against it now"
Naaa this ep made say " f*ck Ketil and the entire farm for having slaves " suddenly i don't really care if Canute takes this farm lol

I know its easy to miss, but Einar mentioned in Episode 8 that the Master took a liking to Arnheid and isn't likely to grant her freedom, so He's known.
Also, the anime tried to soften the blow, but the manga made it a lot more Obvious that her baby is dead.
This is crazy. This just shows how hard life used to be. It truly was a dog eat dog world.
Vinland is truly just peak fiction man. Amazing episode.

She had no choice to begin with. She's a slave, she has no second opinion. Even if she refused, she will just get punished or sold. Arnheid's situation is so tragic and painful to be honest. Now Gardar is here and he's completely out of it, which adds to her pain.

It's funny how the slave's struggle for iron makes a great parable. These days, the US as an example, always fights wars far from home, not to let "the enemies grow", while its people have already been culturally attacked under its nose.
Here's a more messed up thing guys, in the manga it is mentioned that the Vikings deposed Arnheid's son so that she could sold as a higher price. Virgin women were sold at a higher price then married women as that was how the slave economy worked. And by "desposed" here, yes I mean her son was most likely killed (it's not confimed in the manga but that's how it was portrayed by the author) because Vikings had no use for babies.
Brilliant adaptation by MAPPA just wow the score the artstyle kept as close to the manga as possible the atmospheric cuts and angles to bring in the message of the episode the VA’s going all out you can feel Arnheid and Gardar crying out with so much pain behind those screams the silent moments which are simple but build the tension and then the reality of the world they’re living in its cruel but that’s war and even more painful is that it wasn’t even necessary…
Thorfinn will be the key to fixing for all the emotional damage that will come very soon just wait, watch and witness a true warrior’s method of solving issues
Ketil's wife does know, she smacked Arnhied in earlier episodes. There is no way that a wife wouldn't notice that kind of distance from her husband. When it comes to Arnheid she is a slave and has no say in the matter of sex. No is not an answer for her, that's why it's forced no matter how long the relationship was built, it was a relationship forced upon by slavery. Great reaction g yall! Much love!
