This arc is painful 😭 | Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 7 REACTION

I knew last episode was too good to be true, it’s sad to see the harsh realities of not being in power at this time. I actually really like Ketil now.

  1. I love how Ketil seems to have similar ideals to Thors with his views on violence, so it's interesting to see him struggle internally, trying to resolve certain situations peacefully

  2. A "thing" was like a governing assembly in Germanic societies that was constituted of free people. It had, among others, legislative, judicial and social functions.

  3. I wonder why ketil and his dad doesn‘t understand each other better. Yeah they have the farm size as different opinions, but Ketil is a nice guy that cares about his dad. There should be potential

  4. I didn't mind that he beat him because I knew that he took zero pleasure in it. He even took steps to possibly insure their future survival

  5. Thing, THING
The Old Nordic word "thing" meant an assembly of clans and tribes to make political decisions, air of grievances and disputes, and even elect kings. The term is actually the root of the English word "thing," which eventually encompassed not just the original meaning of "assembly," but the general definition of any object. Interestingly, this linguistic shift from "assembly/ meeting" to "object/thing' can be seen in words from a great variety of European languages, whether the root was Nordic or Latin.

  6. 6:10
Yes. Tekken(鉄拳). The Chinese characters mean Iron and Fist respectively. According to a dictionary, the word combination started to be used in 1905, so probably it is the translation from the Western phrase "rule with an iron fist"

  7. Ketil is a very interesting character, because he despises violence and war, but has not the courage to stand for his ideals like Thors. He did punish the kids and even beat them himself (and in the face) to not look weak. He hides behind the violent persona of "Iron Fist Ketil" while Thors was trying to get rid of the violent persona "Troll of Jom". Thors would've never beat those kids.

  8. I honestly thought the twist was gonna be, because of Ketil’s story, he would’ve broke the stick with his hands and opted to simply spank them with his own hands. Making irony of iron fist ketil.

  9. Good video Ashe! This episode was painful to watch. Thanks to you and this episode I finally learned what "Tekken" means ! Arhneid is really brave to stand all that violence around her !

  10. For all the good ketil seems to do he can't stick to his own beliefs and owns slaves to further grow his farm. I don't like him one bit

  11. Thing is in the old meaning meeting or gathering. The word originally meant "assembly", then came to mean a specific issue discussed at such an assembly, and ultimately came to mean most broadly "an object".
