Basically, most of the Canute's story was done before Einar ended up at the farm. It went back to the past to tell about Canute and by the end of his story, we're back to "present" day.

I think it was a couple years after the first season that this season started. At some point during that time it did a rundown of Canute's activities over that period of time it seems and a bit beyond it as well
Guessing since the first season ended its been about 2 to 3 years + 6 months
the netflix subtitles are way better crunchyroll lacks the smoothness netflixs do imo

The final episodes of season were in 1014, if I remember correctly we are actually in 1016 with current Thorfinn and Einar, and the majority of the episode of Canute is in 1015.
