THANK YOU!!
#buddydaddies
the way i just finished watching the episode and then i saw you post this 30 seconds ago
yayy, been waiting for your reaction to drop!
The way I gasped in this episode. They did not sugar coat anything
Something scary had to happen for Rei to get serious, I think after this episode he’s going to be a bit more responsible. And Kazuki’s back story of his wife was just heartbreaking.
We were having too much fun with this show. Time for depression…
Now that we got to see Kauzuki's backstory and a bit a closure with that I wonder how they'll reveal more of Rei's backstory
the sniper guy was his partner I’m sure kazuki wanted him to pop the tire, i think it’s absolutely his fault. He couldn’t have known she’d be there but he took the job and did the hit out in the open where civilian casualties are possible.
LOL. i cant believe Rei has a "Daddy shark" apron
I dont think Kazuki knew about that sniper, but its my impression maybe both of them were trying to kill the guy but without being partners in crime, more like each individually.
YAYYY ive been looking forward to your reaction!! rei really showing his care this ep aww. he literally went to the rain to get help :(( he might be struggling but he's getting there (since I doubt he cares for himself much outside of the necessary so he's learning for miri lol). and I said this in another comment but its so beautiful how kazuki had a convo with his sister in law about not wanting to change and being scared to move on from the past and the next moment we have is about kazuki looking at rei and Miri (with such a fond smile and eyes) as his new family and future and happiness.
I think the way Yuzuko also witnessed Kazuki's profession before the truck blew up made it all more sad ○| ̄|_ Kazuki's self-blame is understandable. He most likely was thinking that "If I wasn't doing a job that day, or not in the organization, terrible things wouldn't have happened." He's my favorite character from the series so it's so painful to see him like this (;´༎ຶД༎ຶ`). Also, did you all notice that the picture of him and Yuzuko is now at his workdesk and not hidden in the cabinet anymore😭 He's changing for the better
Rei as well. I'm not gonna lie, despite him taking care of Miri all by himself being portrayed as something comedic, I cannot help but think about his upbringing. (;′⌒`)
Overall not as angsty as what I thought it would be (which is good wtf I cannot handle super angstiness in this series Ilm afraid akbdakbs), but still angsty and so cute and wholesome (;´༎ຶД༎ຶ`) the way this show handles tonal shifts is just chef's kiss. The married couple subtexts are everywhere in this episode ○| ̄|_. I just love this show so much.
Now we should get an episode about how Rei and Kazuki met like for real?? Because honestly, it's shrouded with mystery. We never knew anything about how they met nor the reason why they are living together. Next week's episode, I cannot wait no more (;´༎ຶД༎ຶ`)
Remember episode 1 and everyone being upset Rei couldn't keep the stray kitten? Kazuki was right that Rei would not be able to care for it, and that's before their work risks come into it.
Something to keep in mind with Rei was he was raised in a kill or be killed life. Had no childhood and never learned basic life skills. When he said he was helping in those ways, he genuinely thought he was doing something. From what I've gathered, Kazuki started living with him BECAUSE he's so hopeless at taking care of himself.
The first episode alone showed us how bad it is for Rei. He is competent in killing but he didn't even know that he could just heat up food in the microwave if it had gone cold.
He was thrown in the deep end and if it hadn't been for Kyutaro, he may not have been able to get help for Miri when she needed it most. He didn't know where the hospital is and he probably didn't really know he could just look it up on his phone. Kazuki could have come home to a flailing partner stressing over what to do with a severely ill child which would have only given him new guilt to struggle over, but thankfully the series spared us from that.
Their backgrounds really shaped them, especially Rei, for the worst, but as Kyutaro said, Miri is changing them. Rei has realised the world is more than kill or be killed and that caring for another life is more than "give it food it likes and keep it entertained" while Kazuki is learning it's okay to open his heart more and let his new family in without needing to fear losing the memories and love he held for Yuzuko.
Yeah, that's unfortunately how that guilt eats you up. It's not truly Kazuki's fault for what happened as he wasn't the one who shot the gas or the criminal who carjacked which lead to that in the first place, but in his mind, he's probably thinking "Had I hit my shots while I was chasing him and taken him out before he was able to get into that car in the first place, she'd still be alive." And of course, there's the fact that he's in this organization taking these jobs in the first place. It's so easy to blame yourself when things like that happen since you're just constantly thinking about what you could've done differently/better in hindsight.
Thanks so much, #Lalafluffbunny, for uploading this awesome anime reaction. Your anime content is so cool, and I love watching your reactions to different anime series.
I like to think that the sunlight in the end is Yuzuko blessing Kazuki in his journey as a father to Miri. I love him so much, the three of them! They all deserve their happy endings 😭😭 And Rei, he has a long way to go but him trying is already making me proud knowing how he barely had any exposure to all these situations before.
This episode was so good and then they said hold these feels 😭
Truck kun victim
I'm also happy they gave two avenues for Rei to acknowledge his role in needing to step up AND that Kazuki's past was revealed. I think Rei is showing signs of stepping up now, but if Kazuki still needs to learn a thing or two, Rei needs to learn fifteen or twenty. His past of being a nurtured assassin from his youth definitely plays a part in this. One thing's for certain is that as parents, they DO need to get involved with the parent cliques too! Possible play dates, mingling with other parents, so I hope that'll be a future plot as well!
Poor Kazuki was actually being faced with all his trauma triggers back-to-back (season, rain, flowers, truck, broken umbrella, etc.) to the point that everything boils over with all his everyday stress of managing everything in the household. 😭 Damn, this episode went a little too hard!! 😭😭😭
