James Bradberry Gets Called For A Questionable Holding Call That Lost Them The Game

  1. In my opinion…The following is the future of NFL officiating: Today, computers are able to interpret images to the extent that driverless vehicles are possible. Therefore, it's only a matter of time before artificial intelligence will make accurate and instantaneous determinations on a football field. Player infractions, penalties, ball placement, and retribution against unruly fans will be unquestionable, immediate, commonplace, and unforgiving throughout the NFL. In addition, the game will be an hour longer because all of those uncalled holding, and other penalties, will be a thing of the past. ALL penalties will be called, and a subsequent & unforgiving retribution will be executed against the offender. Unfortunately, and soon thereafter, high-altitude balloon sensors, laser weapons, and free-speech-censoring-algorithms, will be integrated into the system to maintain the population's total compliance to silicon valley's Woke narrative.

  2. The fact of the matter is that Bradberry got 'beat' at the line of scrimmage, and had to resort to cheating in order to prevent a possible touchdown. All other comments are not relevant. Why would Bradberry need to reach out and grab his jersey unless he was out-competed on that play?

  3. I wonder how many of these comments are from people who actually watch the game and know how it works.

1st: Lots of comments about the contact within 5 yards, CONTACT is allowed within 5 yards, not holding, never holding.
2nd: It doesn't matter whether or not the ball was catchable, this is not a pass interference call, this is a defensive holding call, the ball doesn't even have to be thrown their direction and it could still be defensive holding, the smart QBs always throw it their way IF they see it in order to draw more attention to it for the REFs, are they trying to play the REFs by doing this? Yes they are, but there is nothing illegal or wrong with it, makes the REFs take a few extra seconds to consider if the holding impeded the route.
3rd: Yes it is obvious that not every tug or pull or penalty gets called every game, REFs are not perfect, sometimes they may let things slide, sometimes they may be more strict the whole game, but they may also not actually SEE everything. There are 7 officials, each have different jobs and can't watch all for the same things from every angle, against 22 men on the field where anything can happen. Given that they do an overall good job. Did this late game call get called when other holds did not? Maybe, Maybe not, however I ask did you watch the game? Do you watch other games? Juju won his matchups several times last night to be wide open for several throws? If he was that open he was WINNING the matchups, if he was WINNING the matchups most of the night it gives the defender more incentive to play more aggressive the closer he gets to actually LOSING the whole game. So the flow of the game does not point to this one being called while others were not, at least on purpose.
4th: The actual holding call is not what they showed on TV nor is it what the announcers were talking about at first. If you pay attention and watch from different angles the bulk of the hold was with Bradberry's right hand and he did get a pretty good tug on the jersey it was pulled quite a ways away from his body, this is ALSO IN COMBINATION with his left arm around the other side of the receivers body as he turned. Watch the reply it does impede the receiver even if it is just a little bit. Both this in combination with a good viewing angle from the REF is what drew the flag.
5th: Bradberry does agree that it is a penalty, whether he thought that in the heat of the moment or not he knows it is a penalty, he also knows that he doesn't get caught on every penalty. Why? refer to item 3.

  4. My take…I get throwing the flag, yes there was some holding….but looking at the rule, the CB did not significantly hinder the WR opportunity to catch the ball. I also don't feel the WR was quick enough to run that type of route to get there in time to where the ball was placed, even without the hold. I feel it was not the right call. KC got a little too cute right there and got bailed out.

  5. Why am I not surprised by that terrible call at the end of a close game on 3rd down with Mahomes quarterbacking. The flag didn't come out until after the ball hit the ground in the end zone and rolled.

  6. The fact that the penalty happens PRIOR to what they are showing on camera as the penalty is the problem- you can see the hold and jersey tug at 4 seconds when the receiver turns around in his route, not the contact running down field. It's a hold that routinely gets called — watch it at .25 speed if you need to.

  7. Yall upswt about the call, bradberry has come out and admitted he did pull the jersey, and had hoped the ref would let it slide. You can move on with your life now.

  8. The official rule states that the penalty Bradberry was called for is: "Use his hands or arms to materially restrict an opponent or alter the defender's path or angle of pursuit." Bradberry didn't come close to restricting JuJu's path or angle of pursuit. Not close.

  9. Lame call. They didn't call it like that the whole game, and then the guy picks that game-ending moment to finally call it. Ridiculous.

  10. The holding came early in the play. He grabbed his jersey. Everyone is focused on the second part that was a slight grab. It was the jersey pull. I swear people don’t pay attention.

  11. Bruh he held him at damn near the line of scrimmage then let him go and put his hand on his back to trail, had no outcome in the play whatsoever especially for a uncatchable ball. Still shocked but, hey congrats to the chiefs, it fell their way this time

  12. Sucks that such a great game ended this way. NFL rules allow the defender to contact the receiver up to 5 yards from the line of scrimmage. This happened less than 1 yard from the line. Oh well. There must have been a push from the NFL bigwigs to make sure Mahomes won again.

  13. God this is equivalent to Miami's Jalen Phillips' "Lullabye" roughing the passer of Justin Herbert (Chargers) in LA a couple of months ago! The only difference is – well a Superbowl in question. Refs got to get it right especially at the end of a Superbowl game. People, we need a 4th Qtr, 2min or less option to review all penalty calls!

  14. There is no substitute for real time footage. The majority of "experts" are making use of still shots to make their point in favour of the penalty call. One shot they used showed Bradberry's hand on JJ's shoulder. But what really happened? Was this a small time grab of the shoulder (within 5 yards by the way!) or was Bradberry escorting JJ to jail? Someone else responded to me "look at the still shot of Bradberry pulling JJ's jersey". OK, but is it a split second nip of the jersey or is Bradberry trying to take JJ's jersey as a Superbowl keepsake? The answers lie in the real time footage! Its all there. There simply is no holding of anything that slows down or alters the direction of the receiver. BAD Call! Own up "experts"!

  15. im wondering how the ref on the sideline near the endzone saw it and called it but the ref that could clearly see him didnt call anything

  16. Brady has retired…so the new NFL golden boy is Mahomes and he must be put on a pedestal at all cost. I know he is talented but come on…that flag was BS. Their LT 57 had hands to the face on the defender and that wasnt called. All im saying is new golden boy is about to get away with whatever he wants so he can be the new face of the league.

  17. This replay is what made Olsen look like a rookie. The replay picks up after the holding. Olsen is correct with what he saw in this replay but refused to listen to Mike Pereira who said it occurred before the left arm around the hip that Olsen lost his mind over. Anyone, and I mean anyone who says that the jersey pull isn’t holding is just an uneducated ignorant person who doesn’t understand the rules of football. You shouldn’t even be here on this platform with your lack of intelligence for a game you say your a fan. The players know it was holding, the official knew it was holding and the league knows it was holding. That’s all that matters. The official won’t be losing his job because it was the correct call. If your a Philly fan – get over it. If your a Chiefs fan – get over it. Sick and tired of hearing everyone comment that has never read a rulebook, never wore the stripes, never attend an officials clinic and only has knowledge from watching games on TV.

  18. All I’m saying is James said himself it was a hold and it was refs aren’t trained to look and see if the hold impeded his progress they look for hand placement and he reached grabbed his hip and his shoulder pad a reasonable conclusion is a hold

  19. The freeze frame you used is NOT the holding call made. The hold was with his right hand just as JuJu turned and made his cut to the end zone. Bradberry grabbed the jersey, pulled it to slow JuJu down. It was a hold and did not cost us the game. What caused us the game was no pass rush, no sacks, and no forced punts in the second half. All the cry baby Eagles fans are making all of us look bad. We lost and Chiefs won…get over it.
