  1. yeah….I mean I like it, but I dunno…just doesn't hit like the OG I remember so fondly. Not sayin its bad, because it isnt, but its different. If you go into this expecting it to be a reimaged retelling of the original, your gonna be disappointed. But once I let that go, and just went with it….yeah…not too shabby IMO!!

  2. I have only seen Stampede just recently and the first episode or two of Stargaze and seeing all these clips of the 90s anime really makes me want to watch that instead . Even though the alien visuals are much better now obviously

  3. I just don't understand why there needs to be THREE different Trigun narratives, shouldn't this finally be a beat for beat adaptation of the manga like FMA Brotherhood

  4. The humor is nowhere to be seen, which is kind of logical after the whole arc where the first one ended but its not the same kind of series anymore, the animation is also way worse looking than the 90ties version, even if the pixel count is obviously higher. I feel this is an abridged version instead of the whole story.

  5. I just don't like the CGI animation. If you look at the action scenes a lot of the gunfire doesn't leave bullet holes… It just looks lazy to me. Also this Vash is less interesting without the humor of the 90s Vash. If 90s Vash was this boring I never would've been a fan.

  6. I wanted to like the remake, I really did… but so far it just feels like a downgrade in every regard. I’m just glad to not be getting gaslit by people saying that Stampede/Stargaze are objectively better than the OG like what usually happens.

  7. Today's episode (without spoiling) was what personally convinced me to let go of any manga expectations. In order to enjoy the rest of this show, whatever it'll be, I need to enjoy it for what it is on its own: a reimagining with notes of its source material.

Which sounds like I'm huffing some copium and maybe I am 🫠

  8. Trigun has always been primarily a tragedy with me. The Trigun manga makes me cry. A lot. And I love it for that. In that way, Stargaze is mostly satisfying me. Although I spend a lot of time comparing the events to the manga and noting how things have changed and been rearranged. In addition to that, wiith such a compressed episode count I understand why they have made these changes and I approve of most of them so far.

My biggest issue is, of course… where's my rollerskating samurai!? Where is Rai Dei the Blaaaaaaade!?😢

Oh, I bought Figurama's Vash statue from years ago and it is my pride and joy.

  9. I think the balance is off with modern anime with having zero filler. Before we had too much filler select few had just the right amount. But now it's non-existent so it makes the main protags just so unrelatable.

  10. I have been enjoying Stargaze, but I absolutely agree it feels like it's WAY too fast. I'm worried they were told "you have X amount of time to get this story" and X is probably half as much time as it would need to be the adaptation it really deserves. Unfortunately it's likely the realities of capitalism that require minimum investment for maximum profit is being required of the creators.

  11. Good to see you back at it Mike, and excited for the things coming this year. Wish I had the resources to support you on Patreon right now, but this will have to do.

  12. I think I'd be more willing to accept Stargaze if it was doing more different. What I mean by that is that my favorite episode from Stampede was the flashback that showed how he was a still a kid when he met Brad and their relationship is completely different from how they were in the original story. So much of Stampede was constantly referencing the original story while tweaking things only slightly, in ways that occasionally just make the moments lose their impact. Like how it really doesn't make sense for the town to turn against him, or how the neon bandits attacking the crawler means basically nothing to what that part was about, or already having the scene where Vash is trying to save a child and Nick shoots them so soon that it means nothing.
Like giving Meryl an older mentor who's bland but at least brings a new dynamic, I wish they of they were going to do something different they would just commit to it. If you want to use the characters and tell a different story, then tell a different story and stop trying to replicate the skeleton of an event that just makes it a worse version of it.
    Basically, I wanted FMA 2003.

  13. You really nailed it, the characters don’t have that emotional range, humor, and complexity that other adaptations really got. Vash has flaws; he complains and gets angry, you see none of that in this series. He’s not a depressed puppy 24/7.

If I watched this without the original I would think this is a pretty cool, but your okay sci-fi anime, but Trigun is more than that. I really wish a different studio that did 2d animation got to do a remake, not because the 3d animation sucks, it’s fantastic, but more people would have watched it and there would probably be more seasons. Ideally madhouse doing a brotherhood, but Orange definitely tried and I commend them for that.

  14. Cool video. Mike and Tyler are really knocking it out of the park this year on patreon, we are eating good. Keep up the good work Bonsai Pop.
