Personally the black grail mud is one of the lamest and poorest story elements in FSF. Not because some wanted a sane Heracles, but because Gilgamesh bathed in and was reincarnated in that mud and just had a flashback to his boyfriend, while Herc and 3 command seals tapped out despite him being summoned a divinity and should have decent magic resistance and independent action. Could’ve justified it if they had a mythical catalyst or a potion of madness from Hera, the one who did made Herc go on a rampage and kill his family.
