btw Francois Prelati was the one who gave Gillas the spellbook he used in Fate Zero. His noble phantasm was literally called "Prelati's spellbook".

As for Mr. Pitch Black and little Tsubaki, if you have the time, you can go back and rewatch episode 0, especially the Gil vs Enkidu part. When their fight was interrupted, there were images flashed for split seconds, and then Enkidu called it his natural enemy. Those were hints towards who Mr. Pitch Black is.

Edit: forgot to add, remember Gilles Caster from Fate Zero? He was holding a spell book with human skin covers. The spellbook was called "Prelati's spellbook". Yep. The same Prelati here.

IIRC, Sigma's mother was Maya from Fate/Zero… And Prelatti is the name of the guy who gave the magic book to Gilles de Rais, turning him into the insane mass murderer that was summoned in Fate/Zero.

Be prepared to be confused cuz of so many things being dropped. Watcher's master has something to do with a character in Fate Zero and he is considered one of the MCs of FSF. Francesca saying Kischur is a reference to Zeltrech, one of the most powerful living mages and Scar Red refers to Touko Aozaki, one of the characters in Kara No Kyoukai: Garden Of Sinners and also considered one of the top mages in the modern era. It's fine not to be familiar with the other Nasuverse franchises but if you have knowledge of them, it adds plenty of depth and it really does make FSF way more enjoyable as plenty of terms are used from these franchises and being applied correctly and accordingly.

The 3 characters you need to really pay attention: Watcher's master (his name will drop soon), Ayaka Sajyou, the master of King Richard and Flat Escardos, the master of Jack the Ripper. These 3 will have major impact on the story overall but the other characters will also play an important part, especially our boy Gil. Just get ready for the most insane fights you've ever seen (the craziest I still feel involves Enkidu because his fight is actual world-ending if not for him)
