【Updates from Pianominion】
Aimer is one of my favourite Japanese singers because of her unique way in making catchy songs, and that, NieR:Automata anime opening, ‘escalate’, caught my interest because of its groove and melody, which fits the setting of the anime. This cover is a hard song to master thanks to the difficulty in coordination, especially the section where there are three voices which requires the left hand to play the bass line and the melody, combine with a short ostinato accompaniment that is played using the right hand. This section can also be difficult due to the touch control required to ensure the main melody that is played with the left hand to stand out. One suggestion is to play it slowly to grasp the coordination and the touch control to play it with ease.
