iPhone 17 Pro Scratch Gate is Real — But its not your fault
There are only 2 ways to keep your new iPhone 17 Pro safe. Either never set it down, or, get a case. I recommend the dbrand Ghost Case https://www.dbrand.com/shop/iphone-17-pro-max Use code ‘JERRYRIG’ to get 42% off the the Prism glass when you put it in a bundle. Huge thanks to dbrand for sponsoring my channel for nearly a decade. The new iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max look AMAZING. I am a big fan of the metal camera bump, and aluminum unibody design.
However – in pursuit of aesthetic perfection – Apple has forgotten about the limits of coating durability. Anodizing does not stick to corners very well. And that law of physics will come back to haunt the owners of this new iPhone 17 Pro if they run without a case. The new iPhone 17 Pro camera plateau *will* chip.
Either way though – I would prefer a chip off the ol’ anodizing over a cracked back glass panel any day of the week.
Would you buy the new Apple iPhone 17 Pro? Or do you like the Glass slab style smartphone better?

Protection is always a good thing. I recommend the dbrand Ghost Case: https://www.dbrand.com/shop/iphone-17-pro-max Use code 'JERRYRIG' to get 42% off the the Prism glass as well when you put it in a bundle. Huge thanks to dbrand for sponsoring my channel for nearly a decade!
Steve jobs would be disappointed

Please do the iPhone 17 base model tests!!
in 2024 Samsung did it 1st with s24 ultra, scratches at level 7 with deeper grooves at level 8………….apple is 20 months behind.
8:27 i hate when my phone does that glitch with the apps iconos, its a +$1000 phone😢
Bro look inside the apple watch. Coould be interesting.👍
THANKS GRETA INSIGHT… I DIDNT LIKE THE PHONES ANS DONT FEEL LIKE UPGRADING AT ALL..Apple standard of quality and innovation has gone down drastically…sorry to say that…
My wildest dream phone is being destroyed without mercyy😢
Buy a case for it, no scratches then, first thing I did when I got mine
So don’t get blue?
Not all the designers are the same!
Diamond tester pen on Casio-F91W 🧐 4:39

Can you durability test the Nubia z60 ultra
I want to see the same test in white color
I am android user and i can tell you this phone is historic. The first high budget commercial phone that will bring the trend of hogh material amd possibly the end of regirlar scratches.😊😊
Binatang
me watching this with my sony ericsson w995 in my pocket:
Those camera corners are why you get the deep blue model – can at least use an aluminum blueing pen to hide the marks…
Still haven’t found anyone rich or poor that does not use a phone case.that said I think the corners will probably end up chipping even with the case.
Made in India
Materials used are a downgrade: from stainless steel to titanium, and now aluminum.
damn.
Him whenever he talks bad about the new iphone design : "And don't get me wrong i am a HUGE fan of the new iphone 17 design!"
I think the best colour to not see the scratches is grey 😂
So apple can now pay back less for trading in your old Iphone 17 pro for a new one in the future….
how about the same on SILVER color?
2:13 Say that again
who've started googling for the digital microscope instantly?
hey bro im from india , should i purchase the pro max 17 model , considering poor scratch resistance due to bad anodizing of aluminium , my phone is a scratch magnet being a student, currently using a35 samsung
That’s crazy I’ve had the iPhone 13 with no screen protector for years now and I’ve never gotten a scratch so an even more durable phone is good news
I’LL JUST WAIT FOR THE IPHONE 18 PRO MAYBE THEY’LL FINALLY FIX THEIR MISTAKES😂
"and there is nothing you can do about it" two seconds later advertising a case. Oh I guess there is something you can do about it, lol.
Are you doing any awesome giveaways? If so, I would take any of these phones away.
RIP “scratches at a level 6, with deeper grooves at a level 7.” 2017-2025
What does Jerry actually do with all the phones he did the durability test and teardown?
I have no idea why people are so surprised that anodized aluminum scratches. Like yeah the camera plateau lip is a design flaw. But brah. Just get a clear plastic wrap and then put on a case and it’ll be fine.
scratches at a level si— uhh seven? with deeper groves at a level 8!
@JerryRig can i buy the iphone 17n pro max after you tested it? 😀
3:19 you almost stabbed your thumb bro
2:12 67 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I bought the blue iphonepro , and yeah… it will be my phone for the next 5 years, or at least i will try, as long as it works i’m fine . the iphone 11 it survived with me 6 years got scratches,on the screen and the back , it was a very very good partner i switched it sonce a week with this new one and i hope it works just as good as the last one .
why did they even go back to aluminum? Titanium was doing so well! The amount of times I drop my iPhone 16 is wild and it’s suprisingly looking good as new 😭
Where is the durability test
Idiot proof on the dbrand screen protector yeah I disagree those things fail all the time, I guess my wife and I are idiots because we have had no better luck with those then just the 10$ ones on Amazon, I stopped buying them because those applicators suck and at 30$ pass .
