I only hope that it actually does something substantial with the romance because all too often when a sports manga with a supposedly strong romance plot and or subplot looks promising the writer/author does so little with the romance elements of the story that even if they didn't intend for the story to be portrayed in such a manner the end result when the story is finished is that the romance in the story at best has all the significance in regards to the end result of proverbial red herring in a mystery story!!!
