This episode was a toughy. Amazing, but difficult to watch. Really got me right in the gut. Thorfinn’s suffering is just visceral (Einar’s too) and holy SHIT, his screams (as always) tear me apart. Absolutely chilling. His VA does a phenomenal job!
I think the woman he saw in his nightmare was the one who didn’ t give him away eventhough she knew that he was a spy but still ended up getting killed by askeladd and his comrades in the earlier episodes of season 1
That was actually incredible, even helped me realize something through my own depression.
4:10 This is where Einar should've told him about Leif, who is still looking for Thorfinn. Don't tell me he forgor 😭
This actually made me tear up man 😭. Haven't connected this emotionally since some scenes in AOT & Your lie in April
The OST in this scene is so powerful I’m glad they used the soundtrack from season 1 and I hope they expand on it as well.
This moment has such a beautiful ost especially when canute shows up
“How many people did you kill” Thorfin: “yes”
Hmm, they really straying away from the original manga when it comes to thorfinns and einars relationship.
I hope Einar ask Thorfinn to train him
Although they cut off Einar outright telling Thorfinn that they're friends, I feel like his heartfelt speech pretty much is the same. The way he cares so much for him to the point of sounding distressed at the thought of Thorfinn's life being so miserable just feels like it's him telling him they're friends.
This is why Vinland Saga is GOAT'd
Fucking amazing visuals, unbelievable
A warrior is always a warrior
Honestly I want to know what happen to thorfin family..
2:30 this moment is the exact thing we watched in S1 eps 7, both of them are storyboarded by Atsushi Kobayashi. The only difference is the guy who was beheaded is replaced by granny who took care of him in eps 6. So shocking and heartbreaking to me 🙁
"Thank you for waking me up." could be interpreted in different ways, especially in this episode. 😊
"We're friends." "… the fuck?"
I like it better. Much more deeper, so it's not that vague like in the manga. For an actual animation, this is perfect.
Where’s the action bruh edit: triggered a buncha kids lool
Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I don't care much for they changed Einar in this scene. In the manga he briefly contemplates violence, but then snaps out of it before doing anything when he sees Thorfinn suffering in his sleep. Einar mildly chastises himself, and then treats Thorfinn with kindness and calls him his friend. In the anime, he not only outright attempts to strangle Thorfinn to death, he also doesn't seem the least bit shook by his own actions – if anything, he just seems irritated at Thorfinn.
It seems like they wanted more drama in the anime, and you could definitely argue Einar was a bit too well adjusted in the manga all things considered.
But I think this made Einar seem a lot more immature/judgmental and missed a pretty vital first step in their friendship. Maybe stuff will change in future episodes to give it more perspective, but I'm a bit torn on the implications of Einar having attempted to murder Thorfinn.
I respect that he hesitated, because at the end of the day, he really doesn't have a clue of the shit thorfinn had to do
Holy…it’s that kid!!!! Damn
I totally called it about that old lady he felt so much guilt what happened
Thing about this ep is einar realizing thorfinn was a homicidal warrior killing up everybody so outta pure haterd he wanted to kill thorfinn in his sleep but couldn't because it wouldn't solve anything he was just in lose/lose station after seeing thorfinn suffer from PTSD in his dreams for all horrible things he's done.
Damn this season gonn be cray
My boi really fell from grace Writers gave him the "gohan treatment " Rip thorfinn(teen)
No offence to the writers or the animators but they did a good job making him a bitch
Just two different apples that fell from different trees, but taste the same.
I love their friendship ❤️
