Explore the New Gate of Jerusalem in 360°
So, we inside the city again and we are facing the new gate. Why is it called New Gate? Well, um it’s the last one to be built. It was built and completed at the end of the 19th century, guys, not long ago. That’s what I call new gate. give you direct access to the Christian quarter. And I forgot to mention and when we were standing in uh in Jaffa Gate, Jaffa gate will give you access to basically three major part basically give you access give you access to the to the Christian quarter. It give you access to the Muslim quarter. I give you access to the Armenian quarter and I give you access to the Jewish quarter. I’m referring to Jaffo gate the previous gate which I forgot mentioning to you. So the new gate was built. One of the purpose for building the new gate is to give access very fast to Christians in the Christian quarter to the hospital. the hospital that we see right in front of us which was built also in the 19th century instead of them going around Damascus gate which is our next gate or going around the city through Japo gate so new gate which never actually have a proper you know door like the others was built at the end of the 19th century. So, and if you can see, we do also have a light train which take you to the center of town and to areas where East Jerusalem is located. So guys, I thank you for um for watching my channel.
