all i feel is pain
As a KnightsP I almost tear up when I first read this as a novel. Inside the fandom, people always makes fun of Izumi's extreme behaviour and his weird obsession towards Makoto but later we learn that he did that to 'protect' Makoto because he had failed to protect Leo once and he attempted to redempt it by trying to make Makoto quit being an idol because he didn't want the same thing happened to Makoto (he mentioned about Leo who lost his brilliance and purity once).
Although other characters tend to let go of the past about their war with Fine (except for a few characters like Shu who will always sounds displeased whenever he had a chance to talk to Eichi), Izumi said that he will not pretend that his time singing together with Leo during their second year period never happened because he said that Leo acknowledged him, even call him "beautiful" that it was enough to make him feel glad that he was born in this world.
In Next Door event he actually cried and ask Leo what should he do so he can bring back his smile and call him by his old nickname "Leo-kun" (after Leo came back, Izumi always calls Leo by "Ou-sama").
Also after hearing the GFK incident from Madara that someone with ill intention attempted to use Leo for his own gain, Izumi actually made a bold decision to just bring Leo to Florence and actually live in the same apartment as him so he can take care of Leo. Well he did said it in runabout way like "Leo is his pet and he will take care and feed Leo. In return Leo should introduce him to his work acquaintances and blah blah" but yeah, he did ask Leo to live with him in Florence after their graduation ceremony. (I think Shu also did this to Mika in Raison d'etre event, but Shu ask Mika to live with him in Paris?)
All in all, Izumi's personality is quite complex. He's not just some shallow character with weird obsession and harsh tongue, but he's actually a very caring character. Leo once said that "I feels sad because people tend to misunderstood Sena, because actually Sena is a very gentle and good person".
Thank you for editing this and putting it up!! Truly a gem to share with the new enstarrie that's getting in the fandom and is getting into the ship, to find why people find this combo (izureo) such a great ship and their complex history… it's hard to find translation to the original novel now, and it's also hard when you can't find any pre-war stories now except digging through the Internet and being lucky enough to find a translator that's passionate, having the audio drama in YouTube is such a good way to save the izureo contents in one playlist!
