The New Gate Season 2 – Chances, Release Date, and Everything We Know
The New Gate Season 2 is highly anticipated by fans of the isekai genre, but is it really going to happen? While the first season only adapted four of the more than twenty volumes of the original light novel—leaving plenty of material for future episodes—the reality behind a continuation is more complicated.

Despite the rich source material, Season 1 of The New Gate received mostly negative feedback due to its low-quality animation and graphics. On Crunchyroll, the anime reached around 30,000 ratings, while on BiliBili, it had about 8 million views—modest numbers for a series with such potential.

To make things worse, The New Gate did not appear in Dengeki Online’s Top 10 most popular anime of Spring 2024, and was also absent from the fan-voted rankings on Niconico, Japan’s major streaming platform.

Because of its weak performance in both viewership and public reception, the chances of The New Gate getting a second season are very low. And even if a new season is greenlit, the release likely wouldn’t happen before 2027, as there has been no official announcement by early 2025—and anime production takes time.
